Anyone help me with this.
I'm a bit limited on the know how and also the workshop. I'm in a campsite on the east coast of Italy heading for Sydney.
I've got a set of lihgtforce lights fitted to the GS, wired in using one of Rob Farmers autoswitch things all was working fine and now nothing.
I've had the tank off and checked all the connections, all fine checked the current and all is fine up to the fuse. The lights work when attached straight to the battery.
I'm thinking its either a relay problem or maybe a problem with the autoswitch but don't know how to check either.

Any pointers would be appreciated

Steve, just a thought, some of the earlier switches Rob used, like the one i have fitted, can overheat on a warm day, and the lights go out. Leave it a while and as if by magic you find they work again....

Happened to me on a number of occasions, always in warm weather!

Thanks Bryn, seems to be the problem. It's pretty hot here and in the morning everything was working again. Will be a pain when we get to Iran and Pakistan !!

My lights did the same thing today(and it was bloomin' hot after all). Not a sausage, and then this evening back to life.............I saw this thread the other day, and thought, 'Mine don't do that'.......and now yes they do. I'll drop Rob a line and see if I can fix it.

Likewise.

A quick and dirty work-around......

Operate your hazards once, then your indicators will work again ONCE.

OK, it's a real pain but you have a choice from where you are...disconnect the autoswitch and run without the lights unless you can get someone to re-wire them through a relay and handlbar switch where you are, run without indicators after the bike heats up or flash trhe hazards once after each time you use the indicators until you can get it sorted.

Actually, I think I'd be inclined to take a fourth option in your position.....remove the Autoswitch and have the lights powered via the relay already there but fed from the ignition switched live (that again is already there) so that the lights are on with the sidelights and the indicator element is removed from the equation.

That would take ten minutes to do and give you your indicators back.
