Hi Folks

been trying to find the answer to a coulpe of questions and getting no where.

1- The CTCSS channels on PMR radios, are they all a standard spec or is different manufacturers got there own variant of the CTCSS tone ?

2- I have a couple of simple Binatone radions that I plan to hook up to my inyetcomm system, they do have a 'hands free' socket at the top that I can wire up my helmet mike and speakers to but there no dedicated PTT socket, I remember reading somewhere that you can wire a resister across the 'hand free' mic so it would act as a PTT

cheers

Hi Roddy, normally there are 38 CTCSS tones (Continuous Tone-Coded Squelch System) and these should be the same on most normal PMR radios.

To find the PTT pinout you need the model number/name of the radios, google and a little luck.

If you can’t find it with Google you could try asking on http://www.446user.co.uk/forum_index.html it is a little slow to load
