Hi spotted a white van, long wheelbase Transit/Sprinter type on the A47 travelling along near Norwich. From the rear you would think it is a campervan, in addition to the spare wheel bolted to the rear R/H door there are two normal rear windows one in each door however above these there are two smaller windows, inside these on the first casual glance, look like end brackets to something, on closer inspection you can see they are cameras.
We drew up alongside and could see two coppers in the front, we later saw this van parked up in a layby on the A47 before Vauxhalls going into Yarmouth, further along standing behind the bushes were a marked up traffic car and motorbike. Now im all for our roads being cleared of pissed up idiots both homegrown and foreigners driving around in uninsured vehicals causing accidents, pain and suffering to the taxpaying majority of us however, as traffic police seem more of an extention of the treasury these days that van was most proberly pinging people just over the speed limit and if they caught a pissed up idiot either homegrown or foreign it would be either luck or the fact they just caused an accident. Didnt get the whole reg number but its an A reg van 02 plate, ride safe.

I stand to be corrected, but it was probably VNPR only - cracking down on uninsured/taxed vehicles.

Still sneaky though :spitfire

Al :augie

Edit: I meant ANPR, of course!

Most probably ANPR as there's no need to have stopping vehicles when the good old post office will deliver the fine for for you.

Still; an opportunity for a good old-fashioned poke at plod should never be passed-up.

Saw an unmarked car on the M40 recently (blue lights flashing behind front grille etc) but.....it had a Thule roofbox fitted:eek:

Saw a white PSNI Transit today on the A7 just south of Carryduff, he was so far on his side into the ditch that I thought he'd crashed. Slapped on the anchors to do my Good Samaritan stuff then saw the usual weaponry sticking out the back, so gave the lads a cheery wave and went on me merry way :aidan

It's TVP's new Roads Policing Support Unit (RPSU). The roofbox carried doughnuts.

Only kidding.

You'd only need a small paper bag to supply all of TVP's Roads Policing dept with cakes... :(
