Who is riding around on a GS with a yellow hi viz jacket with small blue chevrons on the top with the word POLITE printed on the back ?
Saw him yesterday at new lands cross.

personally I think you need to be a cock to wear one a bit like people who insist on leaving a Hi Viz vest on the parcel shelf of their car.

Just my opinion

http://www.highvisibility.uk.com/polite they come from this website, have seen a few cyclists with them on, certainly gets you noticed and can help us out.

Sorry, but that is such a twattish attitude. I'm all groovy with hi vis, but these Polite hi vis are nothing more than passing yourself off as a policeman. I can only hope that a mad rampaging gun man with a dislike of the police, attacks the wrong guys and leaves the real boys in blue alone.

Most of the twats that wear them also have the hi vis stickers on the bikes to finish off the look. Absolute wankers IMHO and they should be done for impersonating a police officer!

Have you ever noticed that a hi-viz jacket/tabard is your free admission ticket to any outdoor event? I've seen boys riolling up in their cars opening the boot, putting on said vest and walk straight past the admission stand!!! And they get the best views!!! But as you said w*****s!

it's a free country, they can impersonate the police... if I'm allowed to impersonate a criminal....

:D

"polite" riders get an extra 2"

Of course I can't find it now, but a recent study in the UK confirmed that there was no difference in the passing distance of motorists (measured from the bicycle to the vehicle) with or without hi-viz!

However if the rider was identified as Police (polite) or as wearing a camera, motorists gave an extra 2 inches of passing distance.

I wear hi-viz a lot on the motorbikes and the pushbikes. Not because I think it makes me safer, but because if or when I end up in court, some stupid beak cant hold me "partially responsible" for some other twats mistakes and misdemeanours:nenau

There is one thing I don't get with the wearing these "polite" vests on motorbikes and its that on a bike the risk is whats in front of you, not whats from behind.... surely?

Whilst I don't agree with it, I can understand horse riders wearing them due to the initial calming influence it would have on rearward approaching traffic.

Apart from if you ride so damn slow there is a risk of someone slamming into him from behind?

Risk ass essment

Maybe these 'polite' people have an irrational fear of being 'taken from behind'

:green gri

or that's what they really want..... but they can't find their way out the closet....
