If you have H&B Crashbars and Ohlins fitted to your bike, this may be of interest.
I replaced the Poly V Belt (early) during the 60k service I just did on my 02 Adv. In order to do this, you need to remove the black plastic cover from the front of the engine block. Once you've undone the 4 bolts holding it in place, it is pulled forward, then slides down the front of the engine, passing between the block and the telelever, exiting in front of the exhaust crossover tube.
If you have H&B bars - you need to remove them. Jorge & I did this one side at a time (after first removing the tank, for ease of access to the top bolts), to ensure no snags with the gearbox mounts shifting.
The unusual aspect (to me) was finding that we also had to undo the bottom shock bolt and swing the front shock forward. There is very little clearance between the (original) Showa shock and the plastic cover. The Ohlins spring is larger in diameter and, therefore, there is less clearance - there was no way the cover was coming off without it being swung forward...
All in all, this turns a fairly straightforward job, which could be done at the side of the road, into one which I'd prefer to do in a garage. Still worth carrying a spare belt, though...
