It is with a heavy heart we announce that the Ponderosa shall not be re-opening at this present moment in time.
We would like to take this opportunity and thank our loyal customers. There are many other cafes you could have chosen but you chose us and for that we are deeply grateful.
A big heartfelt thank you goes out to the biking community for their unflinching support through many ups and downs during the years that we have been at the Ponderosa.
We would also like to thank our staff, past and present. We could not have accomplished our success without you and would like to express our deep sense of gratitude to each and everyone of you.
Your hard work, dedication and resilience have not gone unnoticed.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the wonderful past 42 years.
Please keep an eye on our Facebook page for any future updates.
Yours faithfully
Simon & Sam Clemence.

Thanks Kenny , just yesterday I had a lad from mid Wales asking me about it as he visited yesterday expecting it to be open. The Old Stores will get more business , but the whole vibe of the Ponderosa was enthusiasts, you would also see Caterham Clubs Trike Clubs Supercar meets up there. I cant see those groups mixing with the beardies in the Old Stores.

A real loss and a great biking destination.

Bugger.😟

Just before it starts to get busy for the summer months. It's a strange time to close down.
Anyway, it's still a lovely spot and there's plenty of picnic tables, so out will come my gas burner and kettle.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was some kind of clash with the council or road safety etc.

I can't imagine they've run out of cash. Not when there is a two mile queue for a £3 cup of pishwater tea.

They have to get through winter with little or no trade (it was closed all winter)

They do have barriers on the car park sometimes, so take a hacksaw as well as the stove & kettle 🤣🤣

Not for the tables at the rear in the field which are accessable from the back lane. :thumb
I cycle up that back lane sometimes. Its the Old Shoe Pass. It’s epically steep, testament in 2023 it was used for the final of the National Cycle Hillclimb championships. Its such a pleasure when on the really steep bits a car comes tother way and you have to stop 🥵🥵

I'm just down the road. Maybe they had some damage in the storm that took off my ridge tile and blew over my RS? They are much higher up than me and had winds over 100mph.

Respect for cycling up it.😲👍
I've only been up and down it on a motorcycle.😊

Never heard of it or even know where it might be..
The Horseshoe Pass about four miles from Llangollen.

Sorry it's closed, i agree with motorevive - council issues. There are alot of camping and caravan parks at the old abbey. Lots of families hence the 40 mph. There is Llangollen , bike park for free in main car park.

Had a quick butchers at the car parks, which one is free for the bikes? :)

End of an era for many of us and sad to read.
