Hoping the gurus can comment on what porting work has been done on my R100GSPD, chunks out of the guide are a giveaway that someone has been in there:eek Is it a good thing? Has it been done well? What tuning mods if any should be done? My initial thought is that the exhaust port could be cleaned up with wet & dry. Valves are standard size and will be renewed along with the guides. Any help gratefully received. :thumb

How tempting was it to title this thread "head job" to maximise views? :D :D :D

Hard to tell without knowing what it was like before, but it has definately been fiddled with, shapes basically look ok but little skill or craft has been used. And it looks like there is a few days work left on them to finish it off.

Just bung them back on as they are and ride it, save the cash:thumb2

After all It's just an airhead, it's not meant to be fast, that would be missing the point:nenau

Looks like it's been done with a chisel :nenau

Without seeing a standard one it's difficult to tell how much material has been removed. If it's a lot then your flow rate will have increased and you'll have or need to re-jet to compensate. If it's been done in a milled attempt to polish thing up to improve flow without making the hole bigger, then he's wasted his time and just made an insignificant mess, so the standard set up will suffice.

I'm with Shep. If everything else is ok ignore the fiddlings of a time past and just ride it.

That looks like how it comes out from the factory. They aren't all lovely and smooth you know. :D

Had I known that years ago I would have applied for a job at the factory -I reckon I could reach those standards :D

Will leave the inlet ports alone, as I understand it gas swirl in there is a good thing. I'll smooth out the exhaust port just because I can :D Plan to polish the head and piston top to slow down the adhesion of carbon over the next 100,000 kms.

Having a bead blaster is a bonus when doing this job. :thumb

While it's in the pits I will also repaint the rocker covers and crash bars, clean & polish the headers and collector box as well as continuing to shake the loose rattly shit out of the muffler :eek

Standard ports are really quite shitty, here's a pic of my Moorespeed ones. Work of art...........
