Porting.

Screaming eagle 2 bezorsts sourced FOC !
just waiting for a mikuni carb, an air filter and some jets to appear.
Then the iron donkey can be pulled apart and the rebuild can start.
Lot's of chrome shit has been sent for de-plating, should be back for Thursday, then off to the powder coaters.

It's all falling into place.

Well.
The forward controls were shit, when I say shit I mean really fucking shit.
Luckily I was loaned a set, thus preventing me wasting ten billion pounds on buying a fucking set.
Cheers, top bloke. ( you know who you are ) :thumb

So we are back with the mid controls.

Not a problem as I ain't to long in the leg department.
However, jacking the rear up 1. 3/4" with 15" progressive shocks meant a major fuck up with the belt catching on the lower exhaust bracket and the top of the rear master cylinder.

So I cut the offending web off of the exhaust bracket leaving the rest intact,
unfortunately this allowed the rear silencer to shake so violently it scared the bejesus
out of the wifes cat who was minding his own business sitting in an upturned bob hat next to the tailstock on the end of the lathe.

He was so shaken up, he dived into the welding rod box and had a sloppy shit
all over my brand spanking new 316 rods destined for another project.

I welded a new web on with more clearance, just enough to clear the belt though.
The rear master cylinder has now been lowered using 1/2" spacers from the frame, with new longer HT bolts, only just clearing the belt.

The forks have been re-sprung with progressive springs, 15wt oil and powder-coated bottoms.
I ended up dropping the yokes 1/16" on the stanchions, to slightly speed up the turn in,
not too low as I would ruin all the good work I did raising the rear end up.
Cornering is reasonable now but not perfect.
It'll run out of front tyre before rear and starts to feel loose on the front when you get near the edge of the tyre.
The back tyre still has 1/2" of unused rubber on the edges.
I could put a wider front tyre in as there's room between the forks but Id have to take the front mudguard off.
Not to much of a problem as I could fit a fork brace and the mount the mudguard under it allowing the extra tyre room in the forks.

Top and bottom yokes have now been powder-coated as have the wheels, subframe covers, rear rack, sissy bar and headlight brow.
The engine cases will eventually get the black treatment once I've stopped fucking about with it.

I fitted the hammer 1250 kit with domed pistons and got some std 883 heads gas flowed, ported and the valves re-seated. ( different seat angles )
I've tried to team this up with a screaming eagle air-filter, screaming eagle silencers ( currently painted with rattle cans and yet to be ceramic coated ) and an S&S 44mm CV.
It is not right though, I may well need professional help with the jetting or take it all off and start again with a std 1200 piston, barrel and head set.
I don't mind mucking about with bikes in my cosy warm shed, it's far better than watching the telly or going shopping with the wife.

Here it is, not quite perfect yet. . . . .

Bez.

Surely you should be running footboards and heel-and-toe shifts etc ? Remember on a bike " heels are Hell" ......take it from me........

5" heels are a definite no no as are footboards, I will be sure to wear the appropriate footwear for future motorcycling excursions.

Saddlebags have arrived.

Just a pair of throw-overs.
Waterproof, internal frame but not locking and no hard-mounts.

First-off I'll detach the joining yoke then make up some quick release hard-mounts, i've spent
over a month looking at the many different types of mount and I don't like any of them.
Why oh why do these people not make stuff in stainless steel ?
just shonky iron shite that will rust to nothing as soon as a damp leaf lands on it.

So I'll have to make my own.

Then I'll buy the HD lock pair and get them keyed to my ignition key.

They fit any leather bags, though my locks will be rear mounted not on the side like the picture.

Then I'll have to move the indicators, I'll most likely drill the bottom of the rear mudguard and mount the road king bar mount indicators.

That ought to keep me busy for a little while.

I've been looking at windscreens too and I don't like any specific for the sportster.:blast
That'll be yet more work . . . . . .
