Bit sad really as it suddenly became my last euro Moto trip. We went down through France to Canfranc west to Chaves & Covilha in Portugal & back via the picosCare to share what, in case it interests others?

However, along the way in the Pyrenees we came across a semi washed out road which I & one other mate decided to ride, the others sensibly turned back. Five miles of very slippery terrain later we see civilisation and an old French bloke in the middle of the track & he steadfastly stuck to the middle, with a 20 foot drop to the left I opted to go right & rode straight into shallow gully. I remained upright. The bike called for emergency help that I had no idea how to abort. I was very pissed off. So stupidly decided to haul the bike out on my own. I should have taken off the luggage and waited for my mate, but the red mist that enveloped me meant I tried to extricate it alone.
Huge mistake, I now know that I managed to herniate three discs. At the time all I knew was it hurt like fuck and got worse until I was 1000 miles from home and in such pain from moving left foot that I stayed in third through all kinds of bends for hours on end. Not much fun at all.
I managed to get home, but was in such agony I could not disguise it from my wife. I decided to immediately sell my GS, it was advertised on here Initially and then sold by Reitens on a commission basis as it was only two years old.
I figured that I had a good innings, I was riding for 25 years, well over 100,000 miles on various bikes on several continents, never binned any of them or even came close. Ultimately it was a stupid moment of rage that did for me, what’s worse I never got the tell that Frenchman what a stupid twat he was, although I have told others since.
