Hi Everyone,

I have purchases one of those plug and play BMW harness to female USB socket. Now I'm coming to a problem of not finding the socket to plug it in. I think my NAV V is already connected to the one on the right hand side of the fairing. There is another socket where I think the DIN socket is connected to but there is another socket slotted near the horn that I do not know what it is. Any ideas?

Thanks

Hi All,

I have been trying to edit this thread but cannot find how to. It was written on my phone and not very well put together really, apologies for that.
Please can anyone inform me what is the plug/socket on the 3rd photo and usually stashed just above the horn? It has a cap in it but once removed it is not compatible with the "plug and play" plug part of the wire harness I purchased from a well reputed online seller.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks and regards

I don't know what the socket under the horn is, hopefully someone else will.

Is the part you have purchased this one from Nippy Norman's?
If it is, I would draw your attention to this statement about half way down the description:

NOTE:
If GPS is fitted to your bike then the appropriate socket for this lead will be used and you will need the lead that connected to the battery which is part number - GZM-QLITE-AQ-04

If you have a GPS connected to this socket then it is this alternative item you really need, it is similar to what I think you have, but it is for connecting the harness direct to the battery.

However, this Splitter on Ebay MAY sort this out for you.
As you can see, it allows you to use the plug/socket for the SatNav to provide both power to the SatNav and an accessory socket, the SatNav uses all three wires in the original plug/socket, and a second 2 wire connection, i.e. the positive and negative connection, is provided for the socket. This, of course, assumes that the harness you have doesn't require all three wires (I suspect it doesn't, but who knows?).

Assuming the harness you have only requires a positive and negative connection, an alternative would be to buy the BMW Splitter cable that is used to fit additional sockets, i.e. this. I believe the part number for it is 61127712581. You could use this splitter to connect your harness to the Din accessory plug already fitted to you bike.

Hi,

Thank you ever so much for your reply and suggestions. They're spot on! I definitely missed the note comment on the site where it refers to the already used socket! Bummer.
However not all is lost! with your suggestion I will be able to get both connected, I'm just enquiring on the number of wires required but I also think its only 2.

Once again thanks for your help. :thumb2

You're welcome.
I think it will only be 2 wires required, I'm fairly sure the hardware on yours will be the same as the Battery harness and that only has positive and negative connections.
Good luck.
