This morning as I was prepping for a ride I rolled the bike off the main stand and the front brake lever came straight back to the bar! I pumped the brake a few times and it was OK so I went out for a ride and it was fine.

One thing I did notice when I was pumping the lever there was a sort of sucking noise, not sure if this is normal, but it stopped when the brake pressure came back.

I checked the fluid reservoir and it was full and there are no leaks.

Any idea what caused this?

I don’t know what’s wrong with it. A guess wouldn’t help. I would be very careful and weary till you know what happened. What if the same thing occurs while on a ride? JJH

No, I haven’t touched anything, it was fine last time out. Will check it again in the morning.

Is the odd sucking noise normal when pulling the front brake, I don’t recall hearing it before.

Seems odd ........ has the reservoir been over-filled & isn't breathing properly?

I assume you haven't got any warnings on the dash. Whatever, proceed with caution.

Not use, I haven’t touched anything and the reservoir is at the normal level. It was fine after I pumped the lever a few times, just made a funny noise, like air hissing out but I couldn’t see where it was from. Anyway brakes were fine for a 2 hour ride today. Will check it again in the morning.

Where is your bike parked? Could someone have pushed the pads away from the discs? Depending on the amount of wear in the pads it could take 3-4 squeezes of the lever to bring the pads back into contact with the disc. I sometimes push the pads back to stop them sizing up. Never forgot to pump out the pistons though. JJH

It was locked in the garage, so no one touched it. I just checked it this morning and it is all good still, so will leave it for now.

Bike is due a service so I will ask them to check it.
