Post Scottish bike show ride out?

Lets hope there are no weeds outside your premises........or the whole thing could explode into a real stooshy!!!

:D

HRH, your wrath seems somewhat misplaced.

I have a boss who hasn't ridden in Scotland. He'd like to.
He'd like to do it with folks in the area who share the commonality of enjoying riding and may be able to show him roads and places that his lack of local knowledge might otherwise cause him to miss out on.

That seems to be something that for whatever reason you have, you seem unwilling, or unable to accept.

Oh and this is on a personal level, not TT. I asked the question as a UKGSER member. If you want to read other stuff into it, then I guess that's what you have to sort out.

The Callum request is a stick? Not even sure what that's about my friend.
:blast

Now, as you don't want to join in an unofficial, none branded ride out, then obviously that's your perrogative. Please, and I ask this most respectfully, don't try and ferk it up for others who might just be happy to go.
I'm not even sure what pleasure you're getting from trying to do that, but I guess it's something to do with being emboldened by the internet, because in person you were quite amicable if I recall.

Back to the original question, just in case anyone has lost the thread amongst this twaddle...
After the bike show, my Boss, who happens to have not ridden in Scotland before, has the Monday where he'd like to go for a ride around. Anyone fancy a ride on that day. It would be great if you knew some good roads and places of interest that could be taken in on the ride. That's it, pure and simple. One bloke fancies riding his bike, in Scotland. Who fancies joining in?

Hello folks,

We, that is, Touratech, are coming up to the Scottish bike show for the first time. A thought we are having is that we have a post event ride out with anyone that wishes to join in. Nick Plumb (of Paris Dakar notoriety) will be around to ride about for the Monday, but we'd welcome some advice as to what would be a suitably interesting route.

Any thoughts folks?
Anyone fancy joining in?

Don't know if I will make it along to the show. Don't need any bling as I have enough DIY bling on it anyway :D Each year I go and say I don't think I'll bother coming back but with a forthcoming motorbike holiday to Europe I may well visit. My Daughter Skye does need some new motorcycle gear so might be good to compare a wide range of stuff at the same time.

I have just started working again so I am afraid I can't manage a ride out on the Monday. If your boss is still around then could manage Tuesday and would be more than happy to show him around some of my favourite roads. My favourite would be the Dukes Pass near Aberfoyle and West of Stirling.

There is also an off road trail through the forrest there. Some other good roads in the area, well they were good last time I was on them but I am sure they many are damaged with the bad weather. Some nice scenery in the area as well.

I like some of the roads through Fintry and down into Lennoxtown. Usually warm up with a Hot Chocolate at the BMW Dealer in Bishopbriggs (not open on a MOnday)on my way back home.

Some other good routes in the borders that have recently been posted up in other threads in the SS would be worth doing on his journey South.

Hope you have a good visit and may see you during the Show

Iain

You may find some usefull twaddle here

Thank you gents.

I know I've always found Scotland enjoyable both working there and travelling around, hell I even had a honeymoon there. I'm sure Nick will enjoy it too.

HRH, may we get to share a bottle of pop or something in the future.

You may be better to contact Thunder or the boys which actually took part in the event it was only my idea I did not partake.

HRH,
I am heading West to give you a slapping, you put in an immense amount of hard work and time into Calum's road you ARE part of the team.

I'll join you in that one, although spanking is probably more his scene :ymca

The boy is definitely part of the team though :thumb2 :beerjug: The thought of warm Jaegermeister in Banjul still brings me out in a sweat :augie

I'll be there... although, i am not very good at half-hearted violence- thats not the way i was brought up :)

HRH has put a huge amount of effort into Calum's Road and now has to suffer all of us banging on about it!

P.S. being new and all that - does TT stand for TouraTwat?

Ah'm needin a new pair of Daytona Boots so Ah'm hopin that there will be some there.

Then I can send ma curent pair fir a service.

Not that I am ganno stick with Daytonas but they have been brilliant so far.

Hope you have a good visit and may see you during the Show

Iain

Just got advance MCN tickets (£10) for the show so aim to be along on Saturday morning. Must take my camera this year as the Super Moto was good to watch last year.

Good to know someone is attending.
Still don't know if anyone fancies showing Nick around on Monday though. Suppose we'll just speak to folks over the weekend and see what happens.

Oh and if you want, take a look at how far you think we'll have travelled from Ystradgynlais up to the show. I'd add a few miles for meandering. There's a prize for the nearest estimate, although I'm not sure what that prize will be yet.

Blimey, it's hot in here isn't it?

Can't seem to do this by PM, soooo...

Can't help Nick with a ride out from Edinburgh, but if he fancies schlepping up to Inverness (a great run in itself if he comes up via Glencoe) I'd be delighted to show him some of the blinding roads up this way. I could even offer him a bed in my guesthouse in exchange for a suitable number of Touratech gift vouchers :D

Cheers

That's almost certainly a definite probably.

email me [email protected] with a contact number, needs to be before 9am tomorrow, because that's when we are setting off and I'll get Nick to give you a call.

I've ridden Glencoe a few times, you're right a great road.

If Nick does go North and stay overnight on the Monday then happy to show him around some roads just North of Glasgow as per post 23, on the Tuesday as I am off work that day. I am supposed to be doing some voluntary work on Tuesday at Skye's school, but easy to get somebody else to cover. Will see you at the show anyway on Saturday morning.

duplicate from Scottish Show thread

Enjoyed meeting some of you folk in the flesh as it were. Some for the first time, some as second timers, mostly as faces to web acquaintances. Thought you seemed quite nice people considering the battering we'd been lead to expect. Then again, my in-person experiences have always proven this to be the case, much better face-to-face.

From a business point of view, it was a break even show for us on the financials, but worth every penny as far as coming somewhere new, to test the water and meet a new range of people and talk adventure riding with them.

Plus, Nick has all the routes and a couple of riders that will enable him and two of his mates, for whom this is their biggest riding adventure ever and to see their enthusiasm is fantastic, to get out and see some of Scotland.

You guys came through and have done us and Scotland proud. A truly great big thank you.
