Can someone recommend a reasonably priced down jacket to wear occasionally under main jacket ?

I’ve just been to Motolegends to buy some waterproof over trousers and whilst there tried on the Rukka and Klim down jackets .

The Rukka one is about £200 and same as supplied with Nivala 2 jacket . The Klim is £270.

But as I only paid £300 for both my Oxford Hinterland jacket and pants , I’m not really wanting to fork out more than £100 for something I’ll hardly use .

Ta muchly .

TK max

They often have lightweight down jackets with no names attached

I bought my lightweight down jacket from decathlon. About £55

Similar to this one. It fits nicely under my Stadler textile jacket, and incidentally, nicely offsets that expense.

I really couldn’t see the point of paying four times as much for something like the Rukka.

Have you tried ROHAN. They have a sale on just now so the prices are reasonable.

Their synthetic down jacket or body warmer gilet are go to for cooler weather. Work well under a goretex jacket.

I have the original nivala one but know nothing of the differences of the fillings

Decathalon may be worth a look and Mountain Warehouse (just seen someone beat me to it with Decathalon)

The only thing to check is the length as the Rukka ones are short so as not to poke out the bottom of the coat and allow zipping to pants

Plenty of stores in that there south

I’ve got a Klim down jacket & previously had the Rukka. IMO the Rukka is warmer.
I got a Berghaus 700 fill from Mountain Warehouse earlier this year for casual wear. Cost less than £100 on offer & is better than both the Rukka or Klim.

I use a Peter Storm under my jacket when it's cold. Bought from Go outdoors for £29. It does the job and is compact when not worn.

Gone up to £60 for members, but still worth it. Sometimes gets reduced.

TOG24 Mine must be now 4 years old, purchased from their Hatfield Outlet Store (sadly no longer there) for £60. You would've seen me wearing it on our tours. Lightweight, packs into its own zippable chest pocket, but most of all warm due to being down.
I prefer mine a little bit snug fitting rather than flapping about, having got a 40" chest when wearing a t-shirt. So have purchased a small size. Doe suit me well. Had originally purchased in medium but I found it to be to big. So medium on you will probably be perfect fit.

Currently on sale too at £49.00 (red only) and £79 for the other 4 colours. Less to you delivered to Guernsey naturally.

looks great and compact too! might try and get one. I always have an extra fleece (also from Decathlon) for when its cold but it doesnt really add much warmth value......

Right on £100, but maybe too posh for new you?! 😬

……..not Down, but I wear in late November and keeps me warm.
Heated vests good too 👍
Or in non bike stuff - this is tough to beat:

I’ve got a TOG 24 half zip down jacket that’s about as light as it gets and it’s too warm to be able to bridge a small temperature drop such as you’d find on a late summer evening. It’s ok when the outer jacket is off if you’re sitting eating outside but when actually riding I end up cooking if I have to slow down to ride through a town or similar.

SportPursuit are still selling Rab Kinder down jackets for £90 but I think they’d probably be much warmer than you need.

I’ve got a Helly Hansen Crew Insulator 2, it’s pretty warm for such a thin jacket (y)

Otherwise if you want cheap and good, Decathlon as others have said
