I have just had the hubs of my BMW ADV 1150 powder coated as they were pitted round where the spokes are attached and generally in poor condition, The guy who blasted these before the powder coating thought they had come from in his words from a "Russian vehicle" with regards to the quality of the metal. After the Powder coater had finished and I must say he did a brilliant job he advised keeping a close eye on the hubs as he thought the metal had started to go porouse and there might be possible metal fatigue in the future. My question is has any body else been told the same thing after having there hubs stripped down and has anybody had any failures with there wheels
Thanks Tony

Given that the same hubs have been used on other models of BMW's with spoked wheels as an option, not just GS's, that GS's account for a very large percentage of 1100/1150 production, I'd say that this isn't a common problem or very few people have gone as far as having their wheels re-built and the hubs re-coated, to find out. :nenau

Alternatively, the powder coat man was over-egging the pudding somewhat.
