Did you get them powder coated or painted? and what state were they in before painting/coating? Any problems getting a match? I was looking to have mine done but the colour range for powder coating seemed to be quite limited and the guy I spoke to couldn't get anywhere near the dark grey of my Rallye covers.

I got them powder coated. I should have taken a picture before , they were extremely worn out, the previous owner painted them and it was all coming off and there was a big scratch on one of them. It took them a week to clear everything out before powder coated it. I match the colour from the paint I have on my side panels .
Where I went, they had loads of colours . Give them a shout they are good . They are used by BMW wollaston garage ...

I’ve just finished painted mine.

Had some paint left over from doing the tank and the screen, so did the forks and the rocker covers too. (Then got a bit carried away & painted the plug covers and the protector bars).

Just be 100% sure the powder coaters know the rocker covers are magnesium which (we all know) can't stand too much temperature. Some curing ovens are hot enough to distort magnesium.

!!!

Ralphy, surely the paint is not able to stand the temperature of the heads? You would need heat resistant paint?
Looks very nice though.

The cylinder tops should not get to 100C. The rocker covers out in the breeze should be a lot cooler.

I ran powder coated rocker covers on an air-cooled Yamaha four with no problems. Trapped under the petrol tank the inlet side must have got quite hot. But all was fine. The original paint was nothing special either.

Just finished rebuilding the bike today, so I’ll let you know. ;-)
