I have just ordered a Zumo 220. It comes with the power lead but i'm guessing that this will not fit the power sockets on my 2010 GS. What power lead does ?
I intend to fit the unit in conjunction with an Autocom system. Not done this before and hoping it will be fairly straightforward. Can the Autocom run off the BMW power socket ? I believe there are two as standard on my bike.

Many thanks in advance Dario.:aidan

Hi Dario, I have a Z220 fitted to my Duc MTS1200. From memory, the power supply has 2 leads to be connected to the bike's 12V system, and the power box drops the voltage from 12V to 5V at the Zumo. If you want to use the accessory socket on the GS you could attach these leads to a Powerlet plug (do a Google search or try Hein Gericke). You need to sort out which is +ve and -ve. Check with a multimeter - my guess is that the tip of the plug will be the +ve side but this is a guess!

Alternatively, I think there is a socket near the headstock of the GS which is switched by the ignition and is intended to power a GPS. You will need to buy the corresponding plug from your BMW dealer. Search on this forum for more info as there are lots of threads on this topic. Ducati thoughtfully provide the plug for their GPS socket as part of the standard bike :thumb

You could run the Autocom off the same Powerlet plug as the Zumo or, if you've got two accs sockets, you could wire the autocom to a second Powerlet plug. The accs socket will provide (I think) a max of 5 amps which will be ample to power both devices. You don't need a fuse in the lead as the canbus protects the accs socket against overload.
