power leads

The latest, I hear for GPSW brand Quest power lead will be early May '05 for shipping.

Several design issues have had to be resolved and overcome, hence my last request and batch of questions. I thank those who responded within the Forum and those who sent PM messages.

This Quest power lead shall contain a polycarbonate casing (same plastic as the cradle) and house a voltage regulator and audio amplifier. A cable will then go to the Quest with connector inside a new moulded casing, then another cable with BMW plug. The location (or mounting) of the electronic casing is resolved and shall be obvious when seen.

The GPSW Quest power cable will only fit the RAM Quest GA15 cradle and NOT a-n-other's (eg; TT cradle or Garmin bike mount).

When I have a sample or image to show, I shall post a new thread.

Oooops!!

Well that's me out then.......and I suspect most of the others who already have a mount from somewhere else.

Looks like I'll have to wait for the Toratech power cable to fit their own bracket for my Quest.

Hmm....or maybe bodge one.....;)

My TT Quest lead turned up finally. :D

With German instructions of course...

It's got a DIN plug on 1m of flylead, a VRM and a couple of other components on a small pcb heatshrunk about 8" from the business end, and a similar length of flylead for the headphone socket.

Oh, and two washers, which appear to be a bodge for the bracket to hold the mounting back a mm or so from where it was originally designed to be.

I just need to get the tank off, the soldering iron out and get it all hooked up to the autocom and it's switched supply. I'll test it out before I chop the plugs off and do it all properly though, as it does have an air of prototype about it.

I've scanned the instructions and run them past babelfish and a couple of germans if anyone wants a copy.
