Hi there.
Sorry if I appear a bit of a simpleton, but can anyone tell me if this is a power socket fitted to the fairing of my bike? If so, is it for a GPS unit. It says nothing about it in the literature that came with it. I wondered if it had been added by a previous owner.
Many thanks
Steve

This an aux power socket and can power most things if it is dealer fitted it will work in conjunction with the bikes electronics there fore if you overload the socket it will temp shutdown the aux power circuit till the fault is fixed or disconnected:)

Hello Steve,

It certainly looks like one, why not plug something into it to test it - sure it wouldn't do any harm.

cheers

Duncan

What sort of bike is it ?

Judging by the colour and what is visible I'd say that is an 1150. If the aux socket has been fitted properly it should have the aftermarket BMW loom connecting the socket to the accessory socket situated by the left side footpeg.

It is an 02 1150. I have had another little look. The socket is the same as the one near the left footpeg. The wire from under the socket splits into two. One is fused and has a 4 pin female plug at the end of it, and runs to the top yoke where it is secured with a piece of nylon string. It has a rubber cover. The cover looks specifically made for the job. The other disappears off into the wiring loom of the bike.
Thanks
Steve

It wouldn't have been standard on your Tarts Handbag but is standard fitting in that position on the 1150 Adventure. On the GSA it shares the same fuse as the other power socket..plug something into it...the worst thing that can happen is it go bang and torch your wiring harness :D

BM sell the kit for adding the front plug, it piggy backs into the back of the plug by your left foot and will use the same fuse. I've swapped my lead from a 1100GS to 1150 GS to 1200GS and back onto a 1150 GSA.
