Has anybody fitted a power cable for an accessory socket into a BMW tank bag on a 1150 ADV , either loosely or a permenant fitting . Is the altenator powerfull enough to run high beam , heated grips , sat nav , phone charger and a battery charger for AA batteries at the same time ? James . TIA.

Not exxakkerly what you're asking but I did have a flying lead from the back of the BWM power socket on the beak into a tank bag a year or two ago....I burnt a hole in the cordura with a soldering iron then ran my autocom, talkie walkie and Minidisc player off it from a splitter inside the bag.

It worked fine, and it was on an Adv with the extra power hardcore alternator   .....I'd have thought any oilhead alternator system would cope with the draw though.

PS I also ran fog lights as running lights, heated waistcoat , grips and a depleted uranium rail gun with mkII ruby lasersights off it as well.

Hmmkay, the rail gun was wishfull thinking for London traffic, but it all worked other than that ;)

I'm running DAB radio, 2xAux lights, OE lights, Roadangel and heated grips and waistcoat in various combinations, often all on together, with no problems, so I should think you'd be fine.

I'd just run an extension lead from front socket into the bag via the zip.

I don't do many short/slow trips though.

This is what you want: Powerlet
