Powerlet sockets

I've read so much conflicting advice on this subject I'm going to ask here again.
With my 1200 gs 2011 I want to add extra power sockets x2 and will fix direct to the battery. Is there a drawback to this idea. I will use them to power my heated gloves and vest. I've heard that cambus systems don't like the owner messing with the electrics . Ta for any advice.

No need to worry, connect across battery use a fuse as close as possible to the +ve terminal.
Never had a prob with the canbus system, you can use an ordinary charger with this set-up.

You'll be fine to wire it directly to the battery. Best to use a fuse panel but not necessary.

I power my heated jacket from an auxiliary socket that is controlled by a fused relay. The relay is triggered from the rear light. Thus the socket goes dead when the engine is off.
No problem with the canbus system as it is completely bypassed.

I have 2 extra sockets connected via the Canbus wiring and no problems with that either. One either side of the forks, the standard issue one below the seat and the GPS connected into the loom at the front.

I've done mine straight from the battery with an inline fuse but have also added a small switch hidden under the seat just so I can turn it off to stop anyone draining the battery from the socket.

Hahahaha...nice one! It's from a past experience in a French car park when I came out of the hotel in the morning to find a couple of numpties hanging around my old GSX1400 - and charging a phone from MY bike! I have enough French to make it clear that it was a bad idea
