just going to put the rt back ,as per earlier thread ,looked up the earlier one for touqre settings ,and kenny or rob said PRE LOAD ,the threaded pin,to 15 ils ,then back off to 7 ? ,then tourqe down the lock nuts to 75-88ilbs ,what do you mean pre load .
is it tourqe to 15-then nip up the lock nut ,then back it off to 7 ,then do up,the lock nut to 77-88ilbs ,why cant you just hold it a t 7 ,with the box spanner .
allso what is the tourqe (nm)setting for the strech bolts ,shaft to gearbox?

Because the preload makes sure the bearings settled properly. I suppose it could be worded better for clarification.

How about - torque it to 15nm, then back it off a little and retorque to 7nm before torquing the lock nut to the correct torque.

Don't forget theres a proper spanner to use to pull the locknut up. It's a box spanner that allows you to hold the pivot in place with an allen key while you start to pull the locknut down.

how does this sound .
drive shaft to gearbox .29 ilbs
f/drive to swing arm 35 ilbs .
lock nuts on swing arm 75-80 ilbs.
these came from a site i was just looking at regarding bmw specs
