Really not sure if this best place to post this so if any mods know of a better place feel free to move it :)

Just spoken to Bristol motrrad about a test ride on a F800gs over XMAS and just found out their prices are going up by about £350 on Jan 1st ... ekk. Thats gonna push the F800GS over £7k new (looking to buy 2 so thats £700 extra we need to find..)

Im guessing this is a price increase on all BMWs (Increase was due to weak pound/euro) but not 100% sure.

Looks like now is the time to buy.

Steve

Put a refundable deposit down based on the 2008 price ;)

Just wonder how long before there's discounts or enhanced trade-in offers or value packs to mitigate the € / £ price increases?

You've got money in your back pocket to buy 2 new F800GS if you can't do the best deal ever :thumb2 no ones spending enjoy your haggling make the Feckers bend over backwards for you ... Would love to be in your shoes :clap

Simple Wookie,

Any dealer reading this, whats the best price for two GS800s with all the toys, no need to PM Wookie if not well under 12k.

It's worth a try

2009 price for F800GS is now confirmed at £6,855 on the road. Not so bad bearing in mind the current exchange rate, I thought.

Dave

But perhaps not so prudent to increase prices on what is a discretionary purchase during a recession though?

Maybe BMW know something we don't of course.

I suppose they have to increase the price in line with the dip in the exchange rate otherwise EU guys would just shop over here as the bike would be cheaper over here possibly.

Probably not much to do with protecting sales in the UK as opposed to protecting sales in the EU.

Spoke to a dealer a week or so ago and the verdict was that the price for a 1200 was +£110 for the basic bike but most of the increase was expected on the accessory packs.

The new price of a basic 1200 GSA is now £10105 which is up from £9784 (the after VAT reduction price) but its the extras that have made it worse as the Dynamic pack is now £1175 and the Premium pack now £1287 :eek:

Goood news though, the alarm is now £3 cheaper

These have been confirmed as I bought one yesterday and contrary to what has been said the dealers can not sell you stock for the old price as BMW have said that the price increase applies to ALL bikes from the 1st.

Russell.

I have been told 6% on most bikes and 10% on the GS1200 ADV

Lots of stuff about prices going up in new year like the new R1 @ £10k but they can put them up as much as they want, if no one's got any money to buy them !
They will come down soon enough.

i seen some paperwork the other day showing the price of a 1200gsa will be increased by over £1000. they are going to increase the prices of the most popular models by around 10%.

How long is it since anyone paid list price for a Japanese bike? Just need to open the weekly comic to see loads of deals around.

Dunno what it's like elsewhere, but in Norn Iron BMW are discounting almost everything...... except 800s.

Not that I care either way..... I've already got mine :D

bought my 800gs week before xmas registered 1st jan, dealer told me had to pay the price increase, as was registered 2009, told him if they wanted business would not pay increase
registered 1st Jan at 2008 price

Not sure where the £1000 comes from but the 1200 GSA including the Dynamic and Premium package is up some £686.

As with all things you can only ask for a discount and in the right dealer at the right time a deal can be done :)

Yup! R1200GS is 12,500 Euros in Germany and 15,000 Euros (eek!) in Austria. I am sure BMW is not making much profit on UK bikes with the current exchange rate.

I wonder how many will respond that we are still being ripped off?
