Pro Rallye 3 suit

Its a rallye suit so its designed to be cool (well vented) and stand up to crashes.

About the fit. The jacket needs to be on the spacious side so that you can get wind flow through it to keep you cool. The same spaciousness allows you to wear layers of under garments for cold weather.

Great suit :thumb2

Had mine for 8000 miles now .veneration is good and vents are all accessible on the move . I also felt that I had got wet in heavy down pours but was bone dry !!
Have had it on in temperatures ranging from -5 to 39c. Below +6c I have to have a additional layer on.
The two dry pockets are fine as long as you don’t wont to get any thing out of them when its raining . as the water from your sleeves fills them. And the pockets on the bottoms will empty if the zip is slightly open when you sit on the ground
The bladder is good as long as you only fill it half way other wise it tends to drag the collar a bit .
They should have had zips on the jacket pockets as well as the velco
Over all its well worth the money ,well made ,
Should have got the black as I am a muck magnet and it would have not sown the dirt sow much ,But then I guess I will have to wash it:augie

JJ, Got mine from Wollastons, try suit on and then try various bikes etc, wear your bike boots etc, I changed my jacket three days after buying suit for a smaller size!! Just leave the tags on til your sure of right one......wollastons are good like that, speak to richard, or phil although ive found them all helpful.

Oh, got some knocked off the matching gloves( well you've gotta get them) and water bladder as well.

Gloves are brilliant........:thumb

I bought my bike from Wollaston last year and have used Richard for all the bits, autocom etc. plus service last week, he is excellent and always does me a good deal. :thumb2
I'm booked in for tyres this wednesday so I'm thinking of trying the Rallye 3 while I'm waiting for tyres to be done.
I know this could be very dangerous :augie

I think it might be the most expensive set of tyres ever :D:D

As a matter of interest where in Northampton are you?

Went to Wollaston BMW today and bought the Rallye 3 suit and also eneded up buying BMW Allround boots as well.
I only went in for a new set of tyres :D:D

Everything fits well and armour fells very good.
Once I've been out I will let you know what I think.

Well done JJ !! had a feeling you might.........so , which colour and did you get the gloves??

BTW I'm in sunny wboro m8

Hi Morticia

What do you find better about Rallye 3 rather than Rallye 2.

Hiya,

I think the III is lighter in weight than the II...there is no fiddly waist clip on the sides of the trousers, they have exchanged this for simple velcro.

On the jacket they have changed the waterproof pockets round, so these are now the two larger front ones, the back pouch is not so bulky either (so my bum don't look big)

The only problem i am having is the lining in the trousers....it peeks out of the bottom and if i lift it up from the top, my knee pads are over my knees....but there again it may just be me.

Overall i am very pleased with it.

Ha Ha Ha, was it that obvious. I was umming and ahhing for a while then I thought oh sod it why not.;)
Before I knew where I was I had a suit, boots and gloves, but at least I shouldn't need to buy anything for some time again :augie:augie
I got the dark one with the yellow on the arms. Richard sold me some small summer type gloves that he uses as mine have a big cuff and are a bit of a pain to stuff inside the arm of the jacket.
So I now have lots of things to play with and adjust to suit me plus I've got new tyres on the bike as well. :thumb:thumb

I can see me having a busy weekend. :D

I'm in Spinney Hill Northampton so not far away if you fancy meeting for a brew sometime possibly Mcdonalds on the A45.

Hi Luci
I have the same problem with the liners poking out but I'm sure I'll get used to pushing them back.
I thought the jacket was heavy so the Rallye 2 must have been bloody heavy.
I was told today that there is adjustment on the knee armour so you can find a better position for yourself. I haven't looked in to this yet but it might be useful to me as I'm a bit of a short arse.
Haven't had a chance to use it yet but I'm a happy bunny so far:thumb

Well I decide to change my II because my son can use it , so I can get III . First impression is more comfy (not so tight like II they where in that some size 50), you find more space in the jacket for other liners. It is warmer than II , from 13 degree you think is getting warmer, but you don't fill uncomfortable until 7 degree in T-shirt with liners . When is heavy rain and temperature is low you will fill not very comfortable , but you will survive. In dropping rain you will be dry even after long ride.Waterproof pockets it is not really waterproof , things get wet inside. I have also small problems with liners , specially in pants they wants to go out and you have to put them back. Ventilation is ok , tested up to 35 degree .

I've noticed liners for the trousers seem longer as well, I guess it must be same for everyone.
Good to know you've used it at high temperatures and it works well.

My turn,

I got my pro III last week, and did my first 'away' trip in it Monday/Tuesday.
I checked the forecast and decided not to take the pant liners :blast You'll see why in a minute.
First impressions are, the fit is good generally but the jacket could do with an adjustable waist band to make it fit perfectly, other than that, I've always riden with my trouser legs tucked in my boots, and when needed the wet weather over suit goes over them obviously to keep the wet stuff out. So putting these over the boot feels a little odd as my socks aren't long enough to reach the top and the boot 'gaiter' rubs a bit on my leg. Not a huge problem, just feels strange at the moment.

The weather did change (should have expected that) So with the liner in the jacket I set off home in the sunshine knowing that the rain was heavy at home (according to the very accurate weather report from the wife i.e. IT'S PISSING IT DOWN HERE !)

No problems in the dry, about 25 Degs C. and I didn't really feel much warmer than the previous day at similar temps and no liner. I hit the rain and for the first 20 mins no change at all inside the suit. Given the heavy rain I was quite pleased, nothing in the pants either (no liner) Then slowly I felt like I was getting wet around my inner elbows, not much but enough to think I had a leak. Then sure enough when the water did find its way down the jacket onto my legs I did get some in above the knees which the made it's way down into my water proof boots. Can't complain about that when I forgot the bloody liners:blast

Any how, when I got home after another 30 mins or so things hadn't really gotten any worse, so other than my arms I thought the kit did a fairly good job if not quite perfect. Then when I took the jacket off I realised that, like a couple of other guys, my arms weren't wet at all just cold. The temp. had dropped to about 16 Degs. and having just a thin piece of water proof material between me and wet a jacket made me feel like I was wet

I'm sure this would be fine in warmer temps. but I've made a mental note that I'm gonna need a long sleeved top for wet weather riding.

All in all 8/10

but as I get used to the suit I may well get better results from it
(it'll probably make 9/10)

and it looks good on the bike (getting closer to 10/10):augie

Thank you for your review.

I am considering the Rallye 3 as well, along with Rev it. Wondering if anyone here has experience with both of them.

Cheers

David

I'm looking at a rallye 3 suit, using the red rallye2 at the minute, has been a great suit in hot/cold, wet/dry. The comments on here make the suit sound exactly like the old ones.
Damm why dont they do part ex :)

They are at Motorad Central Bishopbriggs. I got the mailshot yesterday.

I got a Rallye Pro 3 Jackets at Bishopbriggs for £305 with their trade in (used an old FT jacket that I had lying in the loft). First impressions are its a well designed jacket and very comfortable with good rider protection. I got the black and yellow one and it goes well with the bike and dosn't stand out as much as previous BWM Rally jackets.

Nice price that......got mine 4 weeks ago from Baldersons P'boro for @320.00.
Also black/yellow, very nice comfy/hot/cold/wet seems all good.....only gripe I can find is, in bright sunshine the yellow stripes on your arms are very visible in the mirrors and can 'out shine' duller vehicles in the same view.:blast

So are all stores doing a trade in offer, can I take anything in to trade ??

All I know is that Motorrad Scotland are running a trade in promotion. which is due to finish tomorrow. They have stores in Bishopbriggs and Dalkeith. I don't think this is a BMW nationwide offer.

its not a nationwide offer, down hear in the midlands,Piddcocks are offering £50 off the jacket and same with the trousers

One thing I have noticed with the jacket is, that on me, the collar is quite high. Hadn't noticed this in the shop, but now out on the road, I find it more cumbersome to move my head around for the likes of livesavers when wearing my BMW System 5 helmet. Have now tried it with my Tour X3 and it isn't a problem with it. So maybe a wee tip is to try your helmet on with the jacket when looking at the Rally Pro Jacket for fit/suitability :thumb
