Hi

This morning like a kid with a new toy I was eager to fit my new full Bos exhaust system to my late 2006 reg 1200 GS. However this wasn't to be. With the original exhaust system removed, the BOS header pipe (right hand side) fouls the long hanger on the inside of the centre stand on which the two return springs are hooked. No amount of jigling will over come this.

So had to refit the orginal system

Has anyway else had this problem? Or aware of solution from Bos. Can't speak to anyone at Fowlers (who suppled the BOS exhaust) till Monday.

Thanks.

Jon

It sounds like you've been supplied with a system for the wrong model year. The centre stand position was changed on the '06 bikes.

I have done the same, bought a full system at a fairly reasonable price to fit on my R1200GS Adventure-06, but stumbled upon exactly the same obstacles. Since the system is only said to be suitable for -04 and -05 it was a shot in the dark for me, but at the price i paid i figured it could take the chance. The system ended up being sold on for the same money i payed to a friend on a late R1200GS-05. To be able to fit the BOS Y-pipe you need to have the centrestand that got an arched lower part as in the picture, not the stand that looks like a capital H.

Fowlers are aware of this, the BOS system thats available for the GS only fits the earlier bikes with the centre hoop mainstand, so take it back to fowlers and get your money back and if they dispute it at all ring BOS direct.
I actually enquired about this to fowlers last week.
good luck

Hi, I have an 2007- R1200GS the one with the square centre stand profile. I have Remus Headers fitted with Carbon Bos end can. The Remus will fit, no problems. Change the Bos headers for Remus, job sorted:thumb2

Hi

Via the supply retailer Fowlers were contacted and it appears a 2004 system has been sent out when a 2006 system which fits with the H stand should have been sent out.

A swap out was arranged and the courrier arrived today to swap the exhausts over. Guess what they sent another 2004 system!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The retailer suggested I contact Fowlers Customer Support direct which I did. I was met with an abrasive, unhelpful rude attitude and I'm no further forward. The retailer is trying to sort this out again with Fowlers.

Does anyone have a number for contacting Bos themselves, their website just refers your to Fowlers. Bos need to know how poor the service is from their nominated distributor.

I even suggested to Fowlers I'd cancel the order, they weren't in the least bit bothered!!!

BOS end cans for GS12

Hi - been reading about the snags fitting BOS on different year models.. Apart from these, what is the concensus out there on improvement over the stock end can?? Is it worth the change from a performance viewpoint as looking at the power curve there only seems to be a gain at low revs...as opposed to the Akropovic which shows improvement at higher end to I think....

What d'ya reckon?

I'm very surprised at this, I have spoken to them a few times and the person I spoke to could not have been more helpful.

Run a search on this site under BOS and you'll find loads of useful stuff :thumb2

Re low/mid range or top end improvement ask your self where would you like the power improved on a bike like the GS? i.e. flat out near the limiter on a dual carriageway or pulling hard out of a bend in third gear before the next series of bends come up ;)

PS BOS system rocks, but then I am biased :thumb

Fowlers are id**ts????

Hi all

I though you might be interested in the continuing sage of my full Bos exhaust system.

After sending out a full sytem for a 2004 100GS instead of the ordered 2006 system, (via my retailer SG Motorsport who are being more than helpful), Fowlers sent me what was supposed to be a complete 2006 system, that was late last week. What turned up was yet another complete 2004 system!!!!

More calls to SG Motorsport and on to Fowlers, who admitted yes they had cocked up again and sent out yet another 2004 system. So they arranged to send SG Motorsport and then on to me all the pipes and Y pieces etc .,for a 2006 system, which duly turned up today.

Absolutely confident that Fowlers couldn't surely cock up for a third time, I for a second time took the orginal exhaust system off my bike. Great the header pipes and Y piece supplied fitted perfectly, but hang on theres a foot gap between the Y piece and the exhaust can.

Cos on the 2006 system theres a seperate link pipe, on the 2004 system its welded to the Y pices. So now I'm left with a bike I can't currently ride. More calls to Folwers via SG Motorsport, resulted on them revealing they found a pipe and more bits in the box, they took the 06 header pipes and Y piece from.

Now it just beggers belief that they can screw up for a third time, but they have, so I now have two wait more days, we're into week three, already of this saga with the bike in bits for Folwers hopefully to send out the missing bits.

Does anyone have the actual details of customer service for Bos themselves, not their appointed country agents, I really want to complain to Bos and let them know how crap Fowlers are!!!

Full Bos system at last!

On Tuesday my missing Link pipe turned and finally I could complete the installation of my full Bos system, to which I've added a K&N filter.

WOW, what a difference. The bike pulls like a steam train (and is wasn't bad in standard trim), the pick up is so quick!! Plus the new exhaust note is addictive.
I'd recommend the full Bos system any day!!

I have been reluctant to add better breathing to mine for fear of an overly lean mixture but also have been pleased with the results. I may go the snorkel/filter/commander route next.....:nenau
