I have an 08 GSA which is brilliant except for when I am in low speed traffic, jams etc and then the bike starts misfiring/ "juddering/hunting" and will not run smoothly. I have taken it to the local dealer and they have not been able to help. Their suggestion is that the bike has been designed to run very lean and at slow speeds causes this problem and they do not have an alternative mapping to richen it up.

I spoke to someone in Holland who had experienced a similar problem and their dealer had been able to do an upgrade to the mapping that cured this, but my dealer said this was not available in the UK. I have had a 2005 and 2007 GS and have never had any problems with these. Can anyone help????

Got a mk1 module on my 09 SE.... It feels 'crisper' and less wooly in traffic ;)

1) Valve clearances/rocker arm clearances - are they spot on?
2) Idle stepper motors - ideally parked and synchronised with a GS911 or BMW GT1 computer.
3) Throttle bodies - Synched to balance the airflow equally through each cylinder (different to the above).
4) Mini coils - are the lower ones corroded when inspected.
5) Air filter - is it clean ?
6) TPS reset - bike learns where the throttle butterflies are.

If all the above is spot on, its then worth investing in a booster plug/accelerator module etc to enhance the low rpm fuelling.

Thank you all for your help and advice, you've been very helpful!!

I can't offer any suggestions I'm afraid but it aint right. I have an 08GSA with none of those problems. It is very happy chuntering along at slow speed.

As done mine. Plus got an Accelerator chip and it only made a nominal difference. I think I'd go back to the dealer.
