I got a set of Radius Risers from Nippy Norman hoping they would make the riding positon a bit more comfortable, so I don't have to reach so far for the bars. Tried fitting them last weekend but I ran into complications.

On full lock, apart from the cables/hoses on both sides looking a bit strained, the bars hit the tank. I searched the forum and only found one reference to this problem. The solution is supposed to be to rotate the bars forward enough that they clear the tank. I tried that but then the mirror steps were inclined forward quite a bit and the clutch/brake levers were uncomfortably low - I think ideally with your wrists in line with your forearms, you fingers should rest on the levers but mine ended up much lower, so you have to bend your wrists to reach the levers.

Anyone else found this problem? The bike is 2008 GSA, is the clearance between the bars and tank less than on a GS because the tank is bigger?

If I rotate the bars forward to clear the tank, can the levers and switchgear be rotated back to the right position? I got the idea that they are fixed with a screw that goes through the bars in a specific location.

Any help greatly appreciated, otherwise there will be a set of radius risers for sale shortly :augie

Hi Bob

I'll give you a tenner for your useless risers mate:thumb2

No but seriously, all is not lost. Once you have positioned your bars so that
they dont foul the tank. You simply loosen the nuts/bolts/screws on your levers and mirrors etc, and adjust to suit.
Don't worry about torque values on the levers/mirrors.
Torque the handlebars to 21 Nm (15 ft-lbs) - 1st front, 2nd rear -> gap at rear only (as viewed in forward direction of travel).

Thanks.

You have to remove the back of the plastic casing on the switchgear to access the screws that hold them on? Or you just move the mirrors and levers? I can't think how they are assembled - the levers are mounted on the bracket that holds the mirror?

You shouldn't need to move the switch gear, just rotate the mirrors/levers/handguards until there in a comfortable position.

Probably another dumb question (they are my speciality :D) but the cables/hoses on both side look a bit tight with the risers fitted, especially the brake line. Reading other posts it seems the usual solution is to remove some cable ties and pull some spare cable/hose through, or drop the fork tube and put the lines on the other side of it. But the brake hose ends at the headstock so there is no spare hose to pull through from somewhere else. If I routed it behind the fork tube instead of in front of it, it looks like it would have a tight bend at the headstock when the bars are turned to the right. Am I missing something?

It doesn't look like there is any way not to strain the brake line without having a longer hose routed in front of the fork the way the original one goes. 2008 GSA if that makes any difference.

I dropped the fork tubes on mine and routed both hoses/cables behind them with no issues. Mind you mine is an 06 so the hose routing/length may be slightly different? :nenau
