Problems With 5th Gear

OK boys & girls, I keep having problems getting in & out of 5th. Now I don't know if I just need to use a little more 'persuation' with my left boot but I'm forever finding neutral when changing from 4th to 5th??!!?? It doesn't happen all the time, it isn't temperature related either but it is annoying when it happens.

It's in for a 12k service next week, so I'll ask the garage them then but I thought I'd float the question here too.

The only problem i've got with 5th gear is that wanker Tiff Needell.

I was having problems with gear selection so bought a set of sockets so i could take the lever off, pushed the shaft out of it's mount, cleaned off all the rubbish regreased it with a bit of copper slip (as it's next to the exhaust i think the grease had got cooked!) and it's all been fine since!

I thought a set of sckets was cheaper than going to a dealer!

I bet it shifts gears a damn sight more smoothly too.

Errrr.... Correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't a clogged linkage cause problems in ALL gears?
