Problems with boots

I just recently passed my test and have went straight out onto a GS Rallye. I'm loving it! I work over in France and had it delivered at the weekend. The bike is beautiful and I'm loving riding it around.
However, last night, I took it from Cannes to St Raphael, some gorgeous winding roads - just to get my feeling for the bike. It was a great ride there and back and I was beaming from ear to ear. It's just that when I got off, my ankles on both feet were really sore. Today they have swollen.
I thought initially it was because the boots are so new and maybe I was wearing too thin a sock. My ankles actually got cut (hence my thinking the newness) but after the swelling today, I'm not so sure.
Does anyone have any advice on "breaking" them in? Or stupidly am I wearing them wrong?!?! (yes, I have them on my feet - left in the left and right.....)
If it helps, they are the BMW Motorrad ProTouring 2 boots.
I would love to hear of some remedies rather than have to go out and buy a new pair of boots.
Thank you if you can help!

Have you got the right size boots? Do you wear your leather's/jeans etc inside your boots? This could be cutting the bllod flow to your ankles.

New boots are notoriously hard to wear in so use some leather cream to softem them up a bit:thumb

If they're not goretex, soak them in the bath for half and hour in luke warm water and then put them on and go for a walk and then a ride for a few hours. Put a good thick pair of sock on when you do that. Then let them dry slowly at room temperature. This will get the boots to start to fold into your foot shape and range of movement. Once dry, they will stiffen up a bit again but with the creases where you need them.

Bon chance :thumb2

I have a pair of these (bought about a year ago). I have found them all day comfortable so I'm surprised you are suffering like this. Are you wearing them with leather trousers tucked in (which could be causing this) or do you wear trousers over the boots? Unfortunately we all have different foot shapes (as well as sizes) and what some people find comfortable others won't. I would suggest to keep wearing them as most boots will break in though I have had a couple of pairs over the years that have almost crippled me to the point where they had to go. It just shows that when some-one recommends clothing, it doesn't neccassarily mean that everyone will find it suitable. Good luck with finding a solution.:thumb2

I tried on various makes of boots to make sure that the actually fit my feet (odd size feet between 45 and 46). It is more important to have a good fit than to buy after the brand name. Unfortunately the only way to break them in is to wear the boots. Whatever you do to break it in just use some good leather wax to keep the leather supple.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the helpful tips!!
Yes, I tried them on before hand, and they feel like the correct size. I hadn't rode my bike for a few days and before I set out today, I soaked them in the shower for a bit. I put a thick pair of ski socks on and then I've been out for a ride in them. They did feel better although I think the left boot outside ankle guard sits a little high and then that is what is rubbing - although the thicker socks did help!
I'll perceiver a little while longer, but I have to put the bike into storage in a little over a weeks time as I am away for the summer (bummer!).
Never mind, something to look forward to in September!! Hope the boot situation resolves itself - otherwise I'll have to break them in more in the galley while I'm cooking!! That'll look weird!
