So, I've been trying to shove the latest maps on the V, but it keeps automatically disconnecting itself about half way through the update. When I turn the Nav on (after disconnecting from the Mac), and look on installed maps, there are no maps listed.:nenau

Anyone got any ideas/ tips to get the maps updated?

Using the Garmin supplied USB lead? Any other USB devices connected to Mac?

Yep, Garmin lead. Just a printer connected, but it always has been, and never had a problem before.:nenau

Worth trying before looking at GE issues , if your printer is a USB 1 your Nav V won't get the USB 2 it requires.

I've not unplugged any of the cables, since the last update, and it worked then. I've not swapped the printer USB and Garmin USB. I've removed GE and reinstalled it, but the nav still keeps disconnecting itself.:blast

Save to computer only has been my preferred download. That cuts out the usb bottleneck .:D

After many attempts, I did a hard reset on the Nav V unit, and all updates have now gone through. :beerjug:

Modern technology.:rob:rolleyes:

there is no problem that a hard reset cannot solve! :D

my update went through well yesterday. Took about 35 minutes.

Save to computer. Then use Garmin map install ( yet another programme) to send to Nav, making sure you choose the options menu which allows you to unstick the previous map , which will then be removed at the same time. You can of course remove maps manually. Just completed latest map updates flawlessly on computer first then send to NavV.

nutty, can you check if your map preview works in 30-50mls scale? you can check it in your trips or zoom out on map view. mine is messed up or doesn't load at all. I believe we are talking about 2015.10 maps?

Map install doesn't put 3d view and photo realistic junctions views to V unit, just base map.

Just checked, and yep, it does.:thumb

Try the hard reset, but make sure you back up your history from the unit first.

Now that 4G is here, and most people have their phones connected to the Nav V, it would be handy if you could update the maps/ software without the need for a PC or Mac.

Jeez, I haven't even got 3G where I live yet :D I guess I've just been lucky with Garmin, never had an issue downloading software/maps with my old 550 or 660. But then, I don't work in IT either....
