Tried to install HID (Canbus 35-watts) today on my 1200GS ADV -11.

When I turned on the ignition, the high beam worked fine, the low-beam - nada.

Switched ballasts - nada on the low beam.

Switched bulbs - nada on the low beam.

Re-installed the halogen bulb - nada on the low beam.

All the time the high beam was OK.

What can be wrong? No fuses on the bike right? For how long time do I have to disconnect the battery to "reset" the system?

Help!

So, you've either broken a wire or you've got a short circuit.

Wiring diagram here

If you're not already good with a multi meter, you soon will be. That or somewhat lighter of pocket ;-)

Err dunno if this will help as i do not know what balasts you hav.e but here goes

Deep breath...

When i fitted mine i did dipped, main and two aux.i mounted the ballasts in the same order as the lamps so from left to right was AUX,DIP,MAIN,AUX and to keep the wires tidy the left aux wire was to the left the right aux to the right and the dip and main to the middle both together, side by side.
THIS HOWEVER MEANT THE LEFT AUX BALLAST WAS UPSIDE DOWN TO THE RIGHT HAND AUX and by a quirk of design i.e cheap set the power inputs could go on either way round so when mounted on the bike under the beak and by looking just at the wire colours i kept putting red to the bottom there fore wiring the ballast wrong so the bulb did not illuminate :blast
I did not realise because i did not have the bulbs for the headlamp fitted due to the kits i had acquired not having the right bulbs in!.

If you search the "what did you do to your bike today" thread you will see some pics which may help explain better.I cannot post a link as i am doin this on the phone in bed!

nite nite.

P.S.
Even if this is not your problem please can you post back saying it was so i dont appear to be such a feckin feck wit, even tho i am!
