IJGser,

A couple more questions about your windshield set up if you don't mind.

How is the GS fairing at highway speed regarding buffeting an front end stability ? I How tall are you?
I have a Spitfire generic wind screen on my XC now and there is some high speed stability issues.

This looks like a good alternative to the rally style fairings and still gives some degree of adjustability as the rake can be adjusted on the GS fairing.

Any chance of your friend making any more brackets to sell , I might be interested in buying a set if he would send to Canada.

Does the GS headlight mount right to the windshield bracket or is there another support fabricated for the headlight?

You will be unaware but I've been seriously unwell, I will answer questions when I'm back home and well again.

Re:fabrication mikeyboy is the man to pm

i can answer some of your questions :thumby:
the screen and headlamp are mounted to the standard 1200 bracket.
i can make another set ,however as it was only built as a one off i would have to borrow ians bike and make a second set from scratch, this makes it quite expensive as it is time consuming,so if any one else is considering doing this now would be the time to shout up, i could make a small batch and this would reduce the cost, that said the brackets themselves are not that complicated, and most decent fabricators could make a set(saving the shipping costs).
when we built ians bike cost was not really on the agenda so if you are considering doing this i should look closely at how much it will cost you,
the headlamp bracket is virtually unobtainable s/h and a new one is @£200
a second hand headlamp is @£120
second hand screens are no prob but the fixing kit is around £50
the mounting brackets would be around £150 plus powdercoat
the wiring on the bike will need modifying as the 650 has a h4 bulb(switched between dip/main) where the 1200 dipped headlamp is on all the time and main is switched as needed.
add that lot up and it makes touratech stuff seem cheap:eek:

Thanks for the info mikeyboy. I will look at costing of bits over here in N.A. to see if I can source parts. The thing I like about this option is the adjustable windshield and ability to try different shields. Rally style fairings are pretty much fixed so it is next to impossible to cure buffeting problems should they arise.
