Is it worth paying extra for No Claims Discount protection

or is it true that if you do make a claim ,the insurance company will offer you your NCD but simply hike the premium up
Example

befor any claim £200 minus 60% NCD £80

after claim £500 minus 60% = £200

or am I just a cynicle twat

Why not do some empirical research?

Create some profiles and stick them into confused.com - use fake phone nos or you will be inundated with sales calls.

Get a base quote with full NCB with 0 claims; a quote with "full protected NCB & 2 claims"; full protected NCB & 1 claim; reduced NCB & 2 claims; reduced NCB & 2 claims.

Report back once you have done your homework.

Yes, I can understand it must be a bit of a trial for you as you don't seem to be able to copy a word from a previous post.

Well, Wapping will give you a guess like all the other chancers replying above.

What we need is hard data. Now, get on with your homework.

As the man said......the protection is for the NCD, not the premium.

The insurance company will DEFINATELY up your next years premium if you make a claim, then offer you the full no claim discount off the new higher premium.

You'd be better off protecting (or worrying about) your FPC than your NCB, mate.
