Proxy Server Address

Hi, I am trying to connect our TV to the internet but don't have a clue how to find my 'Proxy Address'!

Can somebody provide an idiot step by step guide please?

Platforrm- Win7

I have tried looking in I.E and using the 'Tools' option but I cannot access the 'Internet Option' tab in the dropdown to proceed any further.

You would know if you had a proxy address and where it was so unless you have set one up you wont have one. Proxies are generally used in companies not in the home.
No idea why you cant access the internet options in IE though. Even when it is tied down with a policy you can view it although cant change it.

Another angle of attack is in the start search type gpedit.msc and hit return/enter. Every setting for windows in in here and you will find the internet explorer ones in computer config/administrative templates/windows components/internet explorer or user config/administrative templates/windows components/internet explorer. Have a look and see if any of them are set and what to. If you don't have access to these settings you don't have an admin account.

Thanks for your response but my comp says "no search results found" when following the above destructions.

If I don't have a proxy address then I'm stuffed at why the TV doesn't do an auto search/connection when hitting the 'OK' button on the 'auto connect' tab.
Maybe I need to contact the TV manfacturers or where I bought it from. The instruction manual assumes that all buyers know exactly how to connect the tv to internet and so provides very little info.

When trying to access the TV On Demand tab it comes up with 'you do not have an internet connection (55040)'

sounds like your TV doesn't have an IP address or it isnt properly configured. How are you connected to your home network/internet? through a LAN cable or via WIFI? If its WIFI is it connecting to your access point properly? You will have to put in an encryption key for this to happen. You should have a box somewhere handing out network information (called DHCP) its usually part of the modem that connects to the internet. Its possible that this could be locked to only allow certain devices to connect. The TV should be set ti auto IP, if it is set to manual then you will have to set the proper IP address range, gateway and DNS server for your network.
Which version of win 7 is it that you have? It sounds like it is a low version like win 7 starter.

I am confused. Presumably it's your computer which is W7 but I understand you are trying to connect your TV?
Does your computer connect to the Internet O.K? Is this through a router, does it have a wireless capability?

Are you connecting your TV via wireless? If so you will need to enter your router's wireless password, assuming the TV can detect your wireless network.

I would expect that to be enough but maybe your TV requires an Internet gateway IP address...your router...something like 192.168.1.1 (google your router details for default IP address).
