Puig Touring screen on LC GSA

you guys are pissed and I understand and I also would be

I fitted one tonight which I got off a guy on here, looked ok when I got it but a couple of marks, got it fitted and put my bike on the bike lift, bike lift moved and my week old gsa decided that it would go off the ramp backwards and onto me pushing me up against the wall of the garage and the bike, so I manage to pull it off me and stand it up whilst pulling fuck out of my hernia and in the process of me saving it I knocked my brand new pannier box against something metal, all marked and scratched and my 3 week old Samsung phone was on top of said box, my phone is now smashed and I have a damaged box all because of a fucking marked second hand puig screen I fitted

that's my rant on a puig screen to which I wished I never bought

Haha what a nightmare. Can't imagine how mad you are

boxes getting wrapped, phone is,well had it and I have calmed down a lot since last night lol

the only thing I'm pissed about is that the phone is the first contract phone I have ever had and now I have to pay for a damaged phone for the next two years unless I claim on the insurance

sorry to hear that Matt..... not good

regarding the screen, am thinking about pitting one on my standard GS LC. Are the extra brackets really essential? If not the puig screen, what are others using or recommending?

Cheers

only fitted it last night and not had time to ride the bike with it on yet but I am guessing it will be good as its massive compared to stock

I know a man who has the same screen and he said to get the cymark twin system to hold the screen in place, to be honest I am going to see how it goes but I know the original one bent towards me a bit with the wind etc

Going to be fitting one to a GS LC tonight if the stars align and finally give me a couple of hours to work on it.Need to finish wiring the lights as well so with a bit of luck, stage 1 and 2 of farkling the new bike will be complete shortly!

I shouldnt laugh. But I did piss myself reading this.
This is the curse of The Vaughn :yelrotflm:yelrotflm:yelrotflm

Fitted mine tonight but not ridden yet. Pretty straightforward but the bottom screws are ludicrously positioned. I took the middle screw out as well so that i could attach both the top and bottom screws to the black plastic plates on both sides of the screen and then re fix the middle screws after slotting the plates back in. Much easier than trying to do it in situ, I thought.

well here is a verdict from a 150 mile ride today

absolutely fantastic screen

kept it all the way down and didn't make much difference to start with, then as the speed got quicker it was better, lifted it a little and totally changed the bike and wind etc

no buffeting or horrible wind anywhere

it did however stop that much that I had to ride with my helmet visor open which was good as it was warm today

did a 100 mls on Monday with stock screen and no way could I do anymore but 150 mls today and was great .

They do come in clear mate, the Ines I ordered are clear.
Not the Puig touring screens with the spoiler. AFAIK they are only available in Smoke tint which is even more stupid 'coz not only do you have to look through the top of the tinted screen but you have to look through the tinted spoiler as well. But it does work well

Bizarrely I fitted the Puig Touring screen (light smoke) to the GS over the weekend, again using the single Puig bracket. Ordered on Thu evening from Powermint (on Amazon) total cost inc shipping from Germany 7p short of £107. It arrived on Sat afternoon.

Fitting was painless and the bracket allows the screen to be moved on the go. However, with the screen set at the lowest setting I was able to motor at 60mph with visor up and I'm 6'3". Should've done this months ago. Given the service from Powermint, I'll probably be hitting the Puig catalogue again in the near future (the frame infils look quite good and don't use zip ties).

both screen and bracket ordered through amazon?

Tried the Puig touring tonight. After 20 mins or so getting used to the taller screen being in your line of sight as you looked over it, I now love it! Once past that 20 mins, forgot it was there and the protection is excellent. Big fan!

Can I ask where you got it please and what year your bike is? I've got a 2016 and the 2 screens I've bought don't fit??

Mine is a 63 plate GS TE. I got mine from Powermint in Germany, via Amazon. As mentioned in a prior post in this thread, I thought that the installation instructions needed a tweak as the bottom screws are hard to re-insert when trying to fit the new screen.
