Puig Touring screen on LC GSA

Mine is a 63 plate GS TE. I got mine from Powermint in Germany, via Amazon. As mentioned in a prior post in this thread, I thought that the installation instructions needed a tweak as the bottom screws are hard to re-insert when trying to fit the new screen.

Great stuff, thanks for the quick reply, much appreciated

Selling my light smoked Puig Touring screen if anyone interested ?
3 months old. Excellent condition. Fitted perfectly to 2016 GSA.
£50 + post.

Tried the Puig touring tonight. After 20 mins or so getting used to the taller screen being in your line of sight as you looked over it, I now love it! Once past that 20 mins, forgot it was there and the protection is excellent. Big fan!

GSJones - did i read right that you use the strengthening brackets too? when you fitted the screen, did you have to remove the perspex deflector screen in the process? when i read the puig instructions it seems to tell me i have to? havent checked on the bike, but cant see why i would have to remove and then reinstall later in the process?

cheers

I haven't got any ant strengthening brackets fitted yet. Didn't feel the need when i tried it out but no motorway miles.

The perspex part comes off because it is held in place by the screws that hold the little deflectors either side of the screen. Hpe that helps.

Cheers! Will be fixing the screen soon! Looks like the lower bolts are a mare to get to!!!! Especially for a mechanical numpty!!

They are. I took out the middle screw too, which releases the plastic part to which you fix the new screen. I then fitted the top and bottom screws before putting the screen back into position and reinserting the middle screw (mild flexing required).

The positioning is poor engineering by BMW in my view, compunded by the fact that you only need to reach said screw because the OEM screen is also a poor effort!! Don't get me wrong, I love my GS but these are pretty simple stuff which should be sorted in development.

Surely you only need to undo the centre screw on each side and then screen pulls up with brackets attached ?

Just looked to follow the puig instructions i got online (mechanical numpty) so appreciate any tips!

But i have GS only and not GSA ( if that makes a difference!)

Makes no difference whether GS or GSA. Exactly same fixings. Just pull your star driver screwdriver out from under back seat, put screen in up position and on each side unscrew the torx head bolt. Then pull screen upwards and whole thing comes off. Take the remaining items off with screen protected on floor. On new screen insert the rubber rings first and then refit both sides. Then align up on bike and push down to locate. Refit two torx bolts and voila as they say

Spot on. The confusion comes when you try to follow puig's instructions, which try to get you to change the screen without taking the whole thing off.
