you must be feeling brave today
Being the official 'Scream Queen' myself and having shared a bed with Tina in the past, I thought I'd get away with it...
Right then, the 'Badger Run' -
- a lovely little lane with hard-packed dirt and leaves which can be ridden at reasonable speed while swinging from one side to the other just going with the flow. Really nice.
At the end however, is a sort of steepish slippery slope leading onto the next trail that should not be a problem if you have:
a) decent tyres
b) a sensible run-up (i.e. momentum...)
c) not an audience of Paparazzi waiting for carnage.
Unfortunately, the majority of riders didn't meet all three criteria...
Yours truly, Sarah and Finn made it up ok but Aidjay stalled and had to realign

That's why you shouldn't go trail riding on your own - particularly when you are on a lardy GS...
Trusty tail-end and off road god Possu didn't disappoint
After this exercise we thought we'd treat ourselves to a proper lunch break and stopped at the Crown Inn at Lixwm - host of many HAF (hard as f*ck) rallies in the past
Talking of lunch breaks, mine is over now, but there are still a few more trails and a ford to come - so watch this space...

Sorry about the delay - but the weekend got pretty busy and the TRF Newsletter had to be published by today...
Btw, Possu has written a report about our run for the May issue, so if you are interested and a member of the TRF have a look in the Oxford forum.
Where did we stop? Ah yes, at Lixwm for lunch.
While we ate and drank and chatted, the sky became darker and darker - of course, exactly over the area we were heading to...
So the next four lanes south of Lixwm we rode quite quickly, stopped at Loggerheads for fuel and then - after a bit more roadwork - arrived at the trails around Nercwys Mountain.
This is the end of a nice little softish lane near 'Ty'n-yr-ynn' which can be deceptive though and catch out the unwary... Fortunately we didn't have any of those in our group - Rsstler & Rowan

Then it was on to 'Burley Hill Quarry', where the owners have now erected a big white-on-red arrow to point the public in the right direction onto the byway. One day I will stop and take a picture, it's just too funny!
By the time we reached the end of 'Pwll Helyg' the group had become so swift that I had barely the chance to get the camera out!
See what I mean?
It's a shame really, that they have graded the lane a couple of years ago - it used to be a right bugger with mud, ruts and deep puddles - providing lots of entertainment...
Never mind, there is still the crossing of the River Alun to come...

There is a special - some may call it strange - attraction between GSs, GSers and water. This means that every decent ride-out must incorporate at least one ford.
Happy to oblige, I led the group to the crossing of the River Alun - which can be treacherous at certain times of the year and especially after heavy rain...
This time, the ford looked pretty tame and Aidjay was already through before I could get the camera ready. Here comes Rsstler!
Rowan - the only one with his feet on the pegs, IIRC...
Mark's R100 didn't seem to be aware that the law about smoking in public places had changed since it was first registered - tss tss tss...

And tail end Possu - what is all this sticking-out-your-feet-business about?
The last lane of the day was 'The Piggery'
... and where it crosses Offa's Dyke Pass, we stopped for a group photo - look nice!
Then it was down into the valley...
... and back to The Hand Hotel.
What a wonderful day - we were very lucky with the weather (which can be a real dealbreaker in this part of Wales), we enjoyed glorious trails, views and camaraderie, and I think everyone was pretty happy with their achievements eventually.
Heroes of the day: "Team Tourances" Aidjay & Rsstler. Well done, guys!
Thank you all for giving it a go, hanging in there, helping each other, and for making this ride-out such good fun!

What videocam did you use & how did you mount it?
I've just bought a cheapo Oregon thing & had 1 play with it so far with mixed results - poor & bad.

Hi cheap £50 Oregon from aldi kept forgetting the on and off button it came with a mount for the bike if you look at of my pics of the bike you can see it stayed in place all day chewed a set of batteries but that's my fault for forgetting to turn on and off just left it on all day pressing when I remembered.
