Conversely, I've not ridden the GS for over a week now. I've just been out to check and there is still the same amount of fuel in the tank as there was when I put it away in the garage :nenau

Any way, to get this thread back on track;

March 1974 - White walled Tyre (rear) - Raleigh Chopper - Police Stinger

Dear Ash

You're clearly new to both motorcycling and this forum. Allow me to help.

Petrol is a volatile hydrocarbon which is prone to evaporation. as you ride, the airflow exacerbates this this, leading to so-called 'petrol consumption'. Some here will tell you that the engine burns this petrol, but, like tightening corners, this is actually an urban myth. There is no actual fire, you see.

Make sure you only replace it with proper BMW petrol from your main dealer. It's pricier but keeps your initial warranty intact.

Welcome by the way.

Think I need one of these now.
:)
