Puncture repair kit with stringy bungs

ive been doing searches but doesnt seem to be a question similar to mine:

Are they any good? Ive noticed they are easily the cheapest repair kit but after looking at the stop & go kit it seems like the stringy type bungs and crap in comparison and wont work well.

Whats peoples experiences? Also does anyone have any instruction on how to use this type of kit so i can get an idea how it works?

Reason i ask is MCN have a 50% offer on a full kit with co2 cartridges which seems a good deal...if the kit works ok.

I repaired a puncture at Ouarzazarte using one of those. Thats me trying to read the instructions in the car park at Ait Benadou in the header photos.
I rode the Telouet loop, then by road to Marrakech; Once back home, continuing my commute until my TKCs had worn out. TBH, I forgot the string was there until I took the worn out tyre off. I did use lots of rubber cement when inserting it.

Stringy bungs

I bought a kit off ebay that someone had shown as a link from this site. It had the strings coated with rubber solution, along with a reaming tool and an inserting tool. Really easy to use. Take out the nail, screw, whatever, use the reaming tool to get the hole big enough to take the bung, then put the bung in using the needle loop on the inserting tool, pulling the inserting tool out quickly to leave the bung. Cut excess bung with razor blade provided. I rode around for ages until replacing the tyre and it never lost pressure at all.
 
as far as my limited knowledge go's. i believe that the CO2 cartridges will only equalise the tyre pressure to the 'outside pressure'
i.e they can't put 32psi into your tyre.

repair and footpump or compressor..

Similar experience, used them on car tyres with great sucess.:thumb2
 
Cheers for the responses chaps. 32 psi really isnt enough as i do most my riding 2 up so need 42 psi on the rear

Ill go for a kit without the co2 then and get a hand pump or similar :thumb2

Use this puncture repair kit StopNgo. No cement / adhesive required. Awesome solution. Don't mess about with those silly C02 thingy's - carry a compressor. A really good one is this one from Best Rest products. This compressor will seat a GS tyre onto its bead too.

Metal Mule sell the compressor, and are going to be selling the StopnGo kit shortly too. StopNgo available here. Also from a different place on 01706 600100.
