Following a cold ride out to Eyemouth via Rothbury and Duns I found myself stranded with a puncture on the A192 near the Three Horse Shoes roundabout, Blyth. Recovered, BMW assist via CF Recovery.

Question is, does this puncture look fixable by replacing the tubing and where is the best place in or around the Toon for such a repair?

Not many dealers will do a repair these days, where abouts are you based?

I am in the wallsend, area. I was hoping to get away with a tube replacement as the tyre has only covered 2k.

If it is repairable (I'm not sure if it is) I know D.I.T in Sunderland 0191 5489128 will do them.
Kev (captain Pugwash) may be along soon with some info as he's a mechanic based in Blyth:nenau

Good luck and just for everyones info tourances go up in price on the 1st of Feb:(

You stop a tear by drilling a hole into it. In this case anyone with a 1150/1200 should be able to stick a plug in it after drilling the hole.

I am not sure a plug would work as it's not a tubeless tyre (800gs) , my main concern is whether the damage is suitable for a replacement tube. Offer greatly appreciated though.

I will take the wheel along to hunters tommorow, fingers crossed the can fit a tube without having to repair the tyre.

Cheers, Jimmy

Just out of curiosity have you any idea what caused the punture as it looks like a strange one?

Erm why wouldn't it work? I'm only trying to solve the tyre from tearing further, obviously it'll need a new tube if it's not patchable (use a cycle kit). I'd presumed you'd had the tyre off.

Fix it yourself with some tyre levers and next time carry a tube, a half-size bike pump and the levers you buy from Hunters. :comfort

I had to fix 8 punctures in Morocco over a week, and when the rear shredded I ran it with the inner tube bulging out the side wall. :D

Unlikely they'll touch it as the tyre isn't road legal in it's present state.

No idea, the bike felt rough when we passed Berwick, stopped but all seemed ok, the bike felt a bit weavy about 20 miles later. Then it got really bumpy near Blyth.

I see what you mean, apart from replacing the tube the tyre still has to be plugged, Doh!

Yup exactly. You'll have to drill a hole (to stop it ripping further) and use a tyre plug.

Borderraider will not allow me to offer to help you. Please contact him and ask why.
