Puncture

I thought the bike felt a bit strange, slow puncture. Tried using the puncture kit, but didn't work

Nothing in the tyre (that I could see ) I had one hell of a job to push the tool in, there was a cut right next to it as well, so the damage may have been worse than I thought. Off to Micheldever tyres on Saturday for me then. Hopefully they'll be able to repair it, at least it's right in the middle of the tyre.

There seems o be a load of punctures at the moment. I fixed a hole in my tourance a few days ago, but it was losing pressure. I ended up buying a new rear because I just don't trust the repairs for more than a day or so. Bloody fuming as I had loads of miles left!

I've had 3 puntures in about 3 months on BT020s. Tyre place say they are not allowed to repair Z rated tyres anymore so its cost me over £300 altogethe. I used TKC 80s previously and never had any punctures

Your tyre place was talking rubbish. Z rated tyres can be repaired.

If you get water on the cords you get rust.


Last time I checked there was only two wheels on my motorbike, and I need them both...

Hindsight has kicked in

On Monday, I thought that the dipped beam looked a bit high Tuesday, as I pushed the bike out of the garage, I thought Christ! I'm getting old the bike's getting harder to push.

Tuesday night, saw some diesel on the M27 heading west. Bike seemed odd, flicked the bars side to side, odd but not terminally so. Further on an accident shut the Mototrway, so I had to stop for 10 minutes.

Off I go again, onto the bend at80 to join the M3.

Got indoors, felt the front tyre....tepid, felt the rear Hot. Tyre pressure gauge.....................5 PSI

Morale here people. Don't be a lazy arse, if it feels wrong it is wrong. The edges of the tyre have that, " I've just raced the bike on a bloody hot day " look about them. In hindsight, lady luck must have been riding pillion with me.

Got a big screw in my new rear tourance after 50miles. Plugged it and in went the ultraseal.

That was 10,000 miles ago. Must get a new tourance in a few miles.

Garage or diy repair?. You're lucky I guess, I prefer safe. But that's just me.

Had a batch, well three anyway, a few weeks ago now. It's always the back one and it usually seems to be when they are new,

I think the front wheel kicks up FOD just nicely for the rear one to spike it.

Haven't had a lot of punctures really in the past but like you Biglad, always fitted a new tyre after a puncture for peace of mind.
However last time after about 500 miles from new I could not bear spending another fat wad of cash, so got it sent away for vulcanising. Repair looked excellent, hope so as it's been on for a couple of thousand now.

Was told most tyres can be repaired as long as not too close to the edge of the tyre and it's not too big a hole.
Repaired one on at present, one away being mended.
Repair cost £15.00 at BFM, (or are they BMF ???) in Shipley. It's sent away for repair and took a couple of weeks.
If anyone is interested I will post a photo of the repair when it comes back.
That is if it's not too boring a subject

Where can I get hold of some more of the adhesive? Nippy sells the kit, what looks the same at Hein Gericke is £12 odd. But don't need another insert tool, gas cylinders, patches.etc.

ou can buy the plugs and glue as individual items from BMW and they cost a fraction of the price of the complete HG kits. Adhesive is part number 71112332084 and the plugs are part number 71112300231

What was said by Pedmo was the tyre place told him they are not allowed to repair Z rated tyres which is also what I have heard.

Can I recommend THIS . I bought one for the top box. They are TINY and connect using the fag socket. Brilliant bit of kit. When I used the cannisters in the tip-top kit, the tyre was still under- inflated. I used this to take it to the 38psi that I run on the rear tyre (I'm fat! ).
In the middle of a dark night in the rain, it could just be what you need.

Collected repaired tyre today. Hopefully two pics attached.
Looks OK to me, obviously the small bits of loose rubber in the tyre will be got rid of before fitting.
