PUNCTURE

Patched it similar to a car repair and poured in a pink solution they use for 4 wheel drive jeeps, this coats the inside of the tyre and the new patch, worked anyway as just back from 180 mile round trip :thumb2

Dear all, I know this is an old thread, but there seems to be plenty of useful stuff here so it seems to be the right place to ask the question...

How many times are you allowed to patch a radial tyre?

I always thought the answer was twice, but I took my rear tyre in to be patched again today and I was told you are only supposed to patch radials once...

PS. Great threat, I found it very useful - managed to pick up one of the repair kits from George Whites in Swindon, but wasn't 100% happy patching it myself - I've had a rear tyre give out on a 1100GS that I borrowed from BVM - not an experience to repeat

:eek: :eek: :eek: repaired my tourance with a plug and it flew out when I was doing 80mph passing a lorry:eek: :eek: :eek: Cured my constipation!!So I would now always get a new tyre I will never forget that feeling of the bike gently fishtailing then the obvious ROAR of a flat.To its credit an 1150 GSA at the time remained remarkably calm unlike me !! If it happens tough none of the contols and let it come to a stop on its own ,touch the brakes and the tyre will jump the rim:eek:

yeah I know exactly what you mean - I think the huge handle bars go a long way to helping keep the bike under control, but it wasnt a nice experience at all... and I was doing a fair bit more than 80 at the time :blast

That said I've never had a problem with a "proper patch job"

Not DIY

It is not too difficult to carry out a temporary repair using the kit provided. However like so many simple jobs it is not so easy to be sure all has been done correctly. If possible get it done by an 'expert' - someone who does this job frequently or at least have it checked afterwards;

I've had two patches in Z rated tyres before, so it should be no problem in an Anakee.

yeah thats what I though... I'm sure I've had two in previous tyres... oh well, they fixed it... was just curious to know if the rules had changed I guess...
