Pure road tyre

I am about to fit a pair of pure road tyres to my March 2016 GSA.These will replace the Anakees 3`s, the bike will never go off road so for me a road tyre works. The recent concerns of punctures etc on PR4`s and the fact the new Metz 01 appears to as good as the PR4 in the wet makes me wonder if its worth a try. :nenau
The Anakees have done 4200k and are poor over road changes, my question is what road tyres are you using ?

Anakee3 s have no problems up to now find them no different to Conti trail attack 2s
 
People used to complain PR3's were puncture-prone, too. OTOH, was it because so many bikes were fitted with them? I had 3 punctures in PR3's over 30K miles (2 rear, one front) and I've had one in the rear PR4 on my GS (now at 12K miles, so done 7.5K on PR4 so far). I do use a lot of roads where there can be piles of stones up the middle.

Metz's web-site doesn't show any Roadtec 01 sizes for either front or rear of a GS/GSA LC...

Ive got PR4 have been an excellent rod tyre,, at about 7000 miles on rear and its about on its limiter..1.5mm on front to limiter,, great warm up and in the wet and plenty grip in dry..
I looked at the options and if Pirelli angel GT were available to fit I might try them or the new Dunlop road smart III but as mine spends a lot of time going round the M25 in all weathers...and the PR4 have been excellent so Ill probably stick to them again..

according to Pirelli they recommend the Scorpion Trail II, but i liked Angel GTs on my MTS
 
Happy with the PR4 at the moment. Just returned from France and 2000 + miles. The tyres have done a fair few miles commuting on it before we went on holiday. They have squared off a bit. At a guess the tyres were put on between 7 - 8000 miles. Bike now at just over 11000 so about 3000 miles plus on it. Mind you the holiday mileage was loaded with gear and 2 up so that does influence the life of the tyre. Very good grip and feedback from the tyres. Very confidence inspiring in the wet or dry but don't try your luck with banding or white paint on wet French roads on any tyre. I have another 2 sets of these waiting in the garage.

As a note most tyres nowadays and those for the adventure bike market are really good. You fit what you prefer. Dunlop has a new one out I read and as in most cases those that have tested it rates the tyre very high. Avon tyres even though overlooked is getting the thumbs up from a few friends that have then fitted on different bikes, only because a mate is a dealer for Avon I guess. I'll stick with the PR4s for the moment. French tyres for French roads.
 
Are all the others quieter than the Anakees ?

I was hoping the Anakees might stretch to 6000 miles, is that realistic or am I delusional ?

I can't comment on the noise issue. I didn't notice that my Anakee 3's were unduly noisy and I have very acute hearing but I always wear earplugs on the bike.

As for getting 6K miles out of them, you may do on the relatively less abrasive road surfaces down there. Up here on good, abrasive, Scottish Tarmacadam, mine were comprehensively shagged at just over 3K miles. As ever YMMV.
 
When you hear the resonance then you know you are at the legal speed limit for an A road. No resonance from the PR4s. The Anakees didn't last long. 5k or so miles and I had them changed.
 
Got around 2k on Pr4 now. Superb tyres. Toesliders down coming over Hartside on Saturday which kind of suprised me (and the Fz1 struggling to keep up). Will be fitting these again.

My Anakee rear was over 6k when I changed it, it still had more left but I was about to leave on a European tour. The front had a couple of mm left.
Much of my mileage is on the gravel and muck strewn lanes round Cornwall, the rest touring. I seek out the minor roads and avoid motorways where possible.
My riding is solo, two up will obviously increase the wear.
