Pure road tyre

I've put the Roadtech 01's on, done about 1500 miles, wear rate is minimal so far, rode through torrential rain to Portsmouth and they were superb! Ferry over to Santander and scratched for a week in the picos mountain roads and they were faultless!! Even on a gravel road they felt fine! I had them right off the edges just scrubbing them in, I won't be going to anything else soon.... Track day on them should give me a better idea though... Metzler are doing £30 back till end of July 👍🏻

Roadtec 01s

(I posted this a few days ago in the product review forum in reply to someone who asked if anyone has tried the Roadtec O1s)

Yep, I had a pair fitted 10 days ago before coming to France. I've ridden about 1500 miles on them so far, and in some very wet conditions .
It took me a few miles to get used to the slightly different feel to the PR4s fitted previously - maybe the 01s have a more rounded profile. They've been fine in the wet, at least as good as the PR4s, and they've been rock solid in every bend, including the endless twisties down here in Lozere. I've encountered everything from race track smooth tarmac through to piles of gravillons and they haven't slipped at all, though they've been run to the edges. So in a nutshell I think they're very good. I hope they'll last longer than the PR4s. I don't have tread gauge with me but so far there's no signs of squaring off and no real sign of wear.

(Edit: back in the Uk and armed with a tread gauge I reckon the back is about 1/3 worn in 2000 miles)

I'm glad you said that Jimdiesel. I'm on my way down through France right now. Destination Potes. Best roads I've ridden by a long way. Should get there on Wednesday.

Hi pat, I'm thinking of putting these on my Hexhead in the size your using........it's been a few months since you posted, have you still a high opinion of the Angel GT for the shite Irish weather??

1500 miles on Roadsmart 3s in Pyrenees last week. Superb to the edge grip, high/low speed stable. Neutral turn in. Grip in the wet. Big thumbs up from me. IMO better than road 4s.

What are people putting on for the winter - I'm looking st PR4's or Metz Roadtech01's.
Can anyone suggest what is best for winter usage, I understand that there are Winter tyres, I could go down that route.
I live in the Lakes & you guest it very wet & cold & therefore my understanding is a softer rubber is of greater benefit than harder & in which case mileage will not be as good.
So for those of you have tried the MR1's how do you rate them in cold wet conditions?
PR4's - from right ups appear good in wet conditions, other than some saying noisy & potential punctures seem t be the draw backs.

Your advise for winter tyre usage Lakes & motorway in all weathers will be useful

Cheers.

Hi Just been checking out some dealers, Visor Shop recommended Bridgestone A40's as being the best in wet conditions. According to some web sites they do have a good write up.
Any experience of these?

Just switched from PR4's to Roadtech 01... 01's seem a little firmer and don't squirm under acceleration as much as the pr4s. Good wet weather grip... the profile feels different than the pr4's - not as exact in the turns - good under braking. I've only get about 300 kilometers on them and so far I'm happy enough..
