Putting waypoints in numerical order in BaseCamp ?

I have a GPX file in Basecamp with 24 waypoints all numbered 1 - 24
However they don't appear in numerical order
I've numbered them 1, 2, 3, etc and I've also tried 01, 02, 03, etc but they still appear in a random order
I know I've managed to get them in order previously but I can't remember how...

PS: I'm on a Mac if that makes any difference

It’s a long time since I used BaseCamp (in a funny way, I sort of miss it) but try:

If you want to create a route from selected WP's, you can always do so, and once created, open the route by double-clicking on the created route.
In the new window that pops up, you can select a WP and change the order in the list of WP's using the arrow up/down on the right hand side. (There is also a + sign with which you can add WP's later at the place where you had selected a WP.)

Can you just drag them into the order you want in the route list?

I’ve tried that already but ‘no’ it doesn’t work
Wapping’s suggestion is similar but in a different location so it might work

If so, it's a simple "Rename" on each one, then they self-sort.

It should. And it used to but it's not working now

Dunno I thought he was trying to get the Waypoints for the 2026 Photo Rally together when he said 24

If you fire the file numbered but jumbled, on this thread I'll try and sort it for you. Garmin files can be a bit different than stuff created elsewhere? and it can cause a few issues.

I can't do that currently
But the file, numbering, etc was created on this Mac by me so I don't understand what's gone wrong

So, Wapping's suggestion allows me to change the order within the route I created but the original list, pre-route creation, remains

That's weird the nomenclature of 4. 13 and 21 looks grand. Try exporting the gpx and reimporting it as a separate list back into Basecamp. If they don't come in back in order. Remake those waypoints and see what happens. You still have the original safe then if something goes astray.

I should put you on a retainer
The export / import didn't help. But making a new waypoint worked a treat
