fitted a pyramid hugger to my 06 gs tonight. when riding over a bump on road i heard a knocking noise. hugger does not seem to be catching wheel and i read in fitting instructions after (i only read instructions when i get stuck) that you have to remove the rear shock cover on 06 on bikes.
is it a case of just open the allen head and slip off cover or whats the story on removing same
thanks

Frank, from memory, once you've removed the bolt you'll just need a bit of brute force & ignorance to horse it off :thumb

To make your life easier, warm it first to make it more flexible.

Remove the bolt, then wrap that area of the cover in a rag soaked in boiling water.....

BTW, I removed my Payramid hugger after 8,000 miles, it does flex a lot, there is a rubber grommet to try and prevetn damage to teh paint work of the sing-arm where it touches at the front, but the long stainless steel arm coud not take the constant flexing and vibes, it stared to crack at the rearmost upper bend. It also does not fit with TKC80s ...

To make your life easier,

Remove the thing from your bike before riding it again. It WILL remove the paint from your swing arm.
Mine made it to the bottom of the drive and back 'about half a mile' I took it straight off and sent it back.

Hd a Pyramid hugger on my 1150, this was given to me after my mate removed it from his bike, saying it was a waste of space.

Gift horse in the mouth, etc. week later I took it off, pice of shite. Rubbed on the tyre, in two places.
