I went out yesterday for a 90 mile trip and when I got near home I sensed a strange noise and a bit of a judder at low speed. I pushed for home but when I got there my pyramid hugger had come adrift at the lower (brake caliper) mountings, hanging on by one loose screw. The tyre had been rubbed to the point of melting on both sides and one of the upper mounting screws had gouged a 5mm deep groove around the tyre wall - much further and the tyre would probably have failed spectacularly.

The hugger is now consigned to the bin and I'm looking for tyres. No more hugger for me and I've learned the lesson of not pressing on when I suspect there's somat wrong

:(

Hi worse situation with pyramid hugger. Stainless bracket fractured from weld point, hugger came free, rotated with wheel, locked back wheel at 30mph causing scarey skid, lucky for me i stayed on.
Pyramid investigating.
No more huggers for me or my friends

Hi there,

I have had a Touratech hugger on my bike since day one, but when it was in at my dealers for a minor thing they had advised me not too have it on. In fact they recommended not to fit any hugger, they could not give me any other reason other than they could not mount one good enough. With this in mind I have still kept mine on but I do check it before I get on the bike and if any noises are heard I would stop.

My pyramid hugger's fixed on with threadlock on the bolts,so I rekon it should be ok. scary thought thoogh if it comes adrift.Might check it this weekend..........:augie
