Queens Jubileeeee...not for me.

Home and dry...

after a very wet run to Kinsale where the option to bivvy suddenly became very unattractive, I scored a room above the Armada Bar (think it was the last room in town!), had a lobster at Fishy Fishy, and enjoyed the night at Hamlets. Got up on Sunday morning and rode the south coast road to Glengarrif, over Healy's around the Beara Ring to Riche's part of the world. Headed out to Dursey Island cable car, and then back along the south of the ring to Glengarrif again. Head up to Kenmare and on arriving was told there was a biker festival in Killarney, so headed over Moll's and met some smashing people there. Groggily awoke on Monday, said some farewells and headed back up Moll's and took a right to Sneam and the Black Valley. Did the Ballaghbeama Pass and found my favourite part of Ireland. Up to Tarbert, then carried on up to Westport up through Finney to Lough Mask where I wanted to Bivvy. Got moved on as I was removing stuff from the bike, and was very pissed off that we're not as liberal as Sweden on wild camping. Irresponsible campers to blame I guess. Thought I'd blast it on to Westport for a campsite, so opted for Westport House where I set up after a pizza and a few jars in Molloy's. Setting up the tarp at 11:45pm in the rain after a few guinness' was great craic. Up in the pissing rain in the morning and a final run home via Enniskillen past 100 miles of cars, caravans etc. My Klim suit is the first suit I've ever had that didn't let a drop in in such driving rain. 70 miles worth of torrential at 80mph usually finds a way to creep in, so good job Klim!!! 980 miles round trip and Ireland once again reminded me of how beautiful it is, and the Irish about how hospitable they are. Good times, but another few days would've facilitated stopping off with some friends along the way.
