These are probably a user error rather than me ...

Yesterday I was travelling arou Paris, and trying to get back to CdG airport. So I typed in Charles de Gaulle ... nothing came up. I typed in airport / aeroport ... and got some small airports in the south west of Paris, and the Paris heliport.

I then thought use "find", the transportation, and set to air travel ...

No effing CdG airport. So I turned it off an navigated in the old way . Which really pisses me off.

What was I doing wrong, as CdG is a pretty major blot on the map !

Secondly, I had used it to navigate where I was going in the first place. We got there, and on the way back ( and part of the reason for doing the above) it carried on sending me to the initial destination ... Can I assume it doesn't recognise when you have arrives, and needs to be manually reset ?

When you go into find (I assume you used transit) you have the option of finding 'nearest' or by 'name'.

I'd guess you have it set on nearest hence all the local airports but not CdG. Press the menu button when the list of names is showing and switch to 'name'. Hey presto, CdG :)

When looking for fuel remember to switch back to nearest.

I can't find the setting that stops routing when you arrive at your destination (it was on the V, not sure about the Quest) but to overcome this press 'menu', 'route options', stop navigation' when you arrive.

Normally starting a new route or search over-rides the previous anyway, so as you say... pilot error :D

I'd also been wondering how you could find something that wasn't in your immediate area. Thanks Adam.

That's the good thing about this board - it's really really useful.

I had aplay with this last night ....

I did actually type in Charles de gaulle / aeroport / airport , and still only got the crop spraying airports on the south west of Paris. When you say change from "nearest" to "name" is that a settingings issue, or just the top dialogue box on the find page ?

Thanks

To find CdG I press 'Find' and then select 'Transit' from the various options.

In the page that comes up with a list 'Find by name' appears right at the top of the screen - this should find CdG providing you have the maps loaded for that area (although I'm sure it's big enough to be on the base map?)

I'd guess that you have 'Find near me' showing at the top of the screen. Don't press 'OK' and then type in CdG, instead press 'Menu', select 'Find by name' in the little pop up box and then press 'OK'.

You can now find CdG. If this still doesn't work go and stand in the corner with the pointy hat on :D
