Hi.

I know the answers to my questions are most likely to be somewhere on the forum, but never the less.

Is the Garmin Quest 2 robust enough to withstand the rigours of trail riding (not on my GS) if correctly mounted? Thinking of using a Touratech mount.

Is Garmin’s Map Source accurate and detailed enough for trail riding? Wouldn’t want to be sent down an iffy lane and get NERCed.

How well does Memory Map work with the Quest 2?

Thanks in anticipation.

I use my Quest one in my car - on my Ducat - GS and KTM. I do alot of trail riding and the quest is brilliant - i track my route and down load into MM and then i can print off the trails for next time using teh OS maps. Brilliant.

Such a great little gadget

In my experience the Quest 2 is nowhere near as good as the Quest 1. Granted it has an increased memory and European maps preloaded, but I found that the one I 'upgraded' to, and its replacement from Garmin, were both very much inferior to the Quest 1 in actual performance.

Redraw rates & recalcs take far too long, in excess of 1 minute was quite normal. Also both Quest 2's lost satellite lock at the first sign of a tree or a tall building. The Quest 1 I had never had these problems and so I would opt for the earlier model if a you've got your heart set on a Quest.

Personally I exchanged to a 2610 which has been excellent so far.

My first Quest hit the motorway at 70. The aerial snapped but it worked fine with an optional external one. Very robust :thumb
