Having big probs installling my new Quest on my PC. Have followed the instructions to the letter, but keep getting a final window with a non specific message saying problem with installation and can't find specified file. I've told it to look in the right place.. (when the automatic option didn't work) but still no luck. Any clues?

Just gone through the same thing myself tonight :)
i just kept uninstalling and reloading and it worked itself out

I *think* it's after some file on the first disk you put in, before the mapsource ones.

Probably right..the GArmin install software is crap...always has been in every incarnation of their stuff.

After the last disc, as Ian says, it wants the first back again but it's not always obvious (various pop ups don't, and the messages get buried easily)

It'll work eventually, but try it with a clear desktop and take it slowly......for example, on my system I've had the popup asking for the second disc come along, then when I've inserted the second disc it's carried on with the installation but when it'd finished, the message was still there and the install failed when I closed it.

I suspect Garmin just bought a third party's install prog and bolted it on the front end of their own software...and not very well :)

As a rule all windows installation tools are nasty... Follow fannys advice, I'm pretty sure I had this problem on an install I did for a mate.

If you've fed it all the other disks it *has* installed, and is very likely runnable even if the setup cd can't run again.

Oh for a mac mapsource....

Problem Loading Quest

I had exactly the same problem with installing the drivers for the quest on my PC.

It turned out that a dodgy website had loaded some diallers on my pc without my knowing and this affected the install of the quest drivers. Don't ask me how but it did.

I only found this out after loading the free microsoft spyware software, off their website, and deleted all the things that it found.

After this the quest loaded with no problems.

disappearing posts?

I'm sure a couple of my posts have disappeared from this thread? Sure I didn't saying anything bad?
